THE INVISIBLE MAN

A cop down to his bones, Detective Ray Sommers has seen it all, and knows how to trust his instincts.

While visiting an old friend, he finds what he knows with what he sees colliding right in front of his eyes. A man has appeared from out of nowhere. Literally. And in more ways than one, Ray's visit has gotten way more complicated.

Darren, aka Ghost, ran from his traumatic past taking with him some unbelievable secrets. But now he’s found a family where he’s been accepted for the first time in his life.

Ray and Darren’s initial encounter might’ve been a bit unorthodox, but interest sparks and their attraction is undeniable.

Ghost and his Fire Lake family are targeted by a powerful and ruthless man, and they fight back with every weapon they have—of which Ghost is one.

Now that he’s found someone who genuinely sees him, he’s not sure he’ll live long enough to enjoy him.

To all my readers: Thank you. There’s no escaping the truth – without all of you, there wouldn’t be me, the author. Your support and kind words have taken me from being a new author who was unsure and panicked to an author with over twenty books under her belt. Okay, I’m still unsure and panicked, but I’m a work in progress. (Takes a sip of wine.)

I love sharing my stories with you and hearing how my characters have touched you and how you’ve cheered them on, cried with them, and even wanted to knock some sense into a few. Your encouragement has inspired me to continue on my writing journey. All the late nights, missed events, and looming deadlines have been worth it, knowing these stories have entertained and
stayed with you long after the book was finished.

Visiting his friend, Brick, Detective Ray suddenly encounters Darren, aka Ghost, practising his skills. After some initial shock and being brought up to speed on the Noah group, Ray and Ghost get closer. But with Ghost being a prize on the Noah Groups list, will he live long enough to have something meaningful with Ray?
This is the ninth and last book in the current Fire Lake series about the Noah Group, and it was lovely to have some closure, especially regarding the series' Sophia arc. However, while it marks the end of one series, it is not the end of the story, as one of the newbies travels to New York to seek out the Apollo group that assisted Brick and his merry men earlier in the series. I look forward to seeing some Fire Lake guys make cameos in future stories.
Like the other books, Ghost is written in the third person from the viewpoints of Ray and Ghost. Worldbuilding has built up over the series, and while I love these characters, it was the right time to call it a day on their run. Nonetheless, classic to the genre of having a bunch of police, marines, SEALS, and other specialists is that the reader is guaranteed to have shootouts and something blown up – awesome.

Ray is a detective and a native of the area, with the stature of a lumberjack. He’s a tough SOB, but his childhood in the town is his vulnerability, as growing up as a cop's son wasn’t easy. Meeting Ghost brings out every protective instinct, whether or not he needs it. So, there is an element of instalove, which some may like, others not.
Ghost is still finding his feet within the Fire Lake family. He has abilities, secrets, and has lived a life of survival over relationships, which makes him skittish as a colt. But when the right person comes along… ya gotta give it a whirl.
In this age of genetic manipulation, the range of abilities is reaching. The only iddy niggle I had was the convenience of a tracker turning up at the exact right time. But, hey ho, that’s fiction for you, and one could argue that fate had a hand in things. What I like about the Fire Lake books is that they have enough depth, humor, twists and turns to keep me turning the page, yet they are easy to follow, with catch-up points along the way. Kudos to M Tasia for thinking of the reader and the story. The way the boys close ranks to look after their own and take in those who need a home was a pleasure to read.

The Fire Lake series finally wraps up things, kind of. Of courser now the author is planning a new series with another group of Project Noah survivors but I won't be reading that.

Ghost is a chameleon, his powers allow him to go blend in with the surroundings so well he might as well as be invisible. Of course, he has to be naked when this happens. So one day at the Fire Lake compound the series is centered on, he's working on growing his abilities when a huge lumberjack walks in, spots him and the two men are shocked.

Ray is a police detective out of Seattle who helped the guys out with a couple cases in the past, and has a military history with Brick the leader. Now he's returning to the town of Marshall, where he grew up as the son and grandson of former sheriffs, but he's had no interest in returning, until the crew at Fire Lake invite him back to visit. So when he sees the naked Ghost... he's very interested.

Things between Ghost and Ray are insta-love, with a couple extended (and uninteresting sex scenes) but there's more action than developing characters or relationships. A long-running mystery involving the death of the lover of Brick's great aunt Sophia, a generations old conspiracy, and the Project Noah goons popping up again and again.

Glad I'll never read another book in this series. I've filed this one under The Worst because that's pretty much my reaction to all the books, with the sloppy writing, poor editing, bizarre grammar and dialogue.

This was super predictable and forgettable. Two stars.

Ghost is the ninth and final book in the Fire Lake series and I have loved being with these guys. This is a hurt/comfort, found family, action filled read about Ghost and Ray. Once again, a fabulous story with such wonderful characters that I am going to miss.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I really enjoyed this book and thought this was a good conclusion to the Fire Lake Series but it isn’t the last that we’ve seen from this world, since there’s a spin-off series in the works. I thought that Ray and Darren aka Ghost were great together. I’m glad that the team finally solved the mystery involving Brick’s Great Aunt Sophia and that they also got to take down another Project Noah faction during this. I love the found family that they’ve created that has kept growing throughout this series.

I thoroughly enjoy the suspense aspect of these stories. Their found family would do absolutely anything for each other when needed. Now that I’ve finished this series I’m going to do a re-read, as sometimes I forgot who was who or what was happening because it had been awhile since I read the previous books, made even more confusing by the fact that there were a lot of characters introduced during each of the books. I’d recommend this book, series and author to others.
