“Once again, I began losing myself in order to make someone else happy.”

Whenever we begin to live for others instead of our God-given purpose, we become lost. Shari’s life is testimony on life’s journey and the beauty of our pain and how the glory of God is shown in weakness. Reading about her life growing up in North Dakota and then moving to Arizona was very familiar in my own life. Her need to be important and happy based on others is such a dangerous mix and never turns out well. She is very transparent in her wrong choices and even after she became involved with her current husband who introduced her to the love of Christ. By accepting her flaws and her past, she was able to forward in faith.

Her well-known Christian movie “October Baby” reflected her own abortion and the pain that came from that abortion. The Lord used that movie to move forward in faith a ministry to help women who struggle with identity and purpose called Women in My World.

A special thank you to Broadstreet Publishing Group LLC and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review

Beautiful and honest. It's amazing when someone opens up their lives - joys, wounds, sorrows - for the entire world to read. Shari Rigby is a beautiful, real and emotive actress and hearing her story - of how she got to where she is - is eye-opening. Thank you for sharing your story with us Shari.

I knew nothing about Beautifully Flawed or Shari Rigby before reading this memoir. However, within the first few pages of the forward, I discovered that she had a supporting role in the movie October Baby, a pro-life film that follows an “abortion survivor” who discovers her birth story. Rigby plays the role of the birth mother. If you did not already know, I am very passionate about reproductive rights and allowing women to make the decision of whether or not they are ready or able to carry a child. I work in this field, I am passionate about this field. So, naturally, I cringed a little bit, but I kept reading.

People have different stories and opinions—they are all meaningful and important in some way. Despite the fact that one of Rigby’s core beliefs does not align with my own, I still respect her and her story. I want to learn about why she thinks the way she does—I want to learn about her life because I know that every person has something important to say.

That being said, I am going to be critiquing the book, not Rigby or her views.

I came to really appreciate Rigby and became very attached to her as a person. She’s a very endearing author. However, I found her memoir to be sub-par. Reading the forward and introduction, I was very excited—it gave off the feeling that this woman was going to WRITE. Not just write—WRITE. However, her memoir wound up being her life chronicled by the boys she dated, from 1st grade to the present.

Once again, throwback to the lesson of this video—critique the book itself, not the author or their life. I’m not saying that I disapprove of how she conducted her relationships. I’m saying that I found it to be too focused on these men—I found myself confused about what the message of the book truly was. I was expecting a memoir about growth and self-acceptance, but the writing was much to focused on the first-i-dated-him-then-i-dated-him storyline.

I gave this book a 2 out of 5 stars. I would really like to see a redone memoir by Shari Rigby where readers are able to get more into her own head and see what her own experience was like!

A very transparent look at Shari Rigby’s life before the Lord transformed her heart and her mind and gave her a powerful testimony of God’s grace, unconditional love, and forgiveness. What a beautiful picture of what happens when someone surrenders their life to God! I met her just recently and she is the real deal—refreshingly humble and fully committed to helping women and loving the Lord!

First, this was not the book I was expecting when I picked it up and even though I changed my viewpoint while reading it it was really not the book I expected at the end either.

Also, very poor editing. So many typos and missing words or incorrect words. Some glaring logical errors. And it felt choppy many times. Also, I didn’t like how each chapter started with a preview of the end of the chapter. Such a weird device.

I tried to like this book, but I just can’t say that I did.

Brutally honest view of Christianity and grace... But also very refreshing in our culture of expected perfection. I highly recommend this book! But...For older teens and up. :-) For mature content.

I have read a bunch of biographies before. Mainly really big celebrity biographies. This is the first inspirational biography type book I have read. It doesn't delve like too deep into like the childhood aspect of her childhood. But nonetheless, I love how it was written.

This book talks alot about the hardships that this author had in her past such as boyfriends, things about her kids, her family. She has just been through and had a hard life. I think everybody has a hard life and some aspect, but this is the first time I have read about something like this. This actress/mother has been through alot in her lifetime. She has overcome so much. But I like how she has handled it in the end.

All the boyfriends/husbands she has had has defined who she is today. She turned into this remarkable woman. I love how she does turn to God. How much He inspires her. She didn't know much about Him in the beginning, her husband now helped her go to church and love Him. Even though she has so much going on in her life. Her kids, her ailments, her past boyfriends she has overcome alot. Learned from her past and is looking toward the future. I just loved that about this story.

This is a very raw, emotional book. Definately worth the read. Definately need tissues for this book.

This story is a testimony of a woman who despite her bad choices and flaws in life, finds love and acceptance through God.
God in turn, uses her and those "flaws" to speak through her.

First off I have to say this is nothing like I typically read. Looking for an inspirational story, I took a chance on this book.
It's amazing story. While it wasn't an easy road, I can see how God worked in her life.

Thank you Shari for sharing your story with us.

Def chronicled the boys she dated and mistakes made - thought it might be a good therapeutic tool for young girls struggling w similar issues but it didn't talk about her inner emotions.
