DC Comics: Super-Villains: The Complete Visual History

Rate this book
As any comics fan knows, a Super Hero is nothing without a worthy foe to battle. For every Batman there has to be a villain like the Joker, and for every Superman a Lex Luthor. This deluxe book celebrates nearly eighty years of compellingly corrupt characters from the DC Universe’s remarkable gallery of super-villains.

From the Penguin to Harley Quinn, and Doomsday to General Zod, DC Comics: Super-Villains will track the creation of each of these beloved baddies and the dynamic way in which they have evolved throughout the years.

The book will feature the very best super-villain art from the DC Comics archives. Visually arresting, comprehensive, and insightful, DC Comics: Super-Villains will be the last word on the DC Comics characters that fans love to hate.

Ok, one big question first - where the heck is the Mad Hatter?
Answer: Nowhere in this book.

Another issues I had with this "guide" were mostly revolving around my personal disinterest in DC universe apart from Batman's stories circle (#readitonlyfortheroguegallery, no shame).
But then again, objectively speaking, I don't think this book would be really helpful as an encyclopedic quide to DC villains - it rellies heavily on reader's prior (at least basic) knowledge of DC heroes, their team-ups and fights on overall level.
Plus, it doesn't even work as a "visual history" for me - the visuals are not the greatest, nor the most characteristic, I suppose. Or maybe it's just me.
