A wonderful companion to The Englishman's Room, also photographed by Derry Moore. This volume was published first, and so features more black and white photography and a flatter presentation on the page, but is nonetheless a charming look at a variety of English homes, from the stately house to the London flat. There is more emphasis on bedrooms here and on the process of interior decorating (formal or informal), which illuminates aspects of traditional English homes not covered in the subsequent Englishman's book. You will find yourself wanting to do a deep dive on James Fowler at the end of this book! As always, Derry Moore's photographs make you crane your neck in an attempt to look around two-dimensional corners, and in my experience reaching the end of one book of his photographs only brings packages holding more books of his to begin.
