303 Red Dead Lane

Rate this book
Evil has a new address...

For over a century, evil has dwelled in the house on Red Lane, or Red Dead Lane as the locals call it. As one family after another meets with misfortune inside the aging Victorian, it has fallen into disrepair. Forgotten. Waiting.

When the Maxwell family moved in, they were running from a long string of bad decisions. But their hope is quickly squashed by the evil. When police are summoned one summer night, all they find is violence and mysteries. Can they figure it out before the house kills again?

The Prestons hoped some distance would help their teenage daughter find her way out of trouble, but instead they wound up heaping it on. When a horrific crime leaves a fifteen year old girl facing a prison sentence, the truth can only make things worse for her.

The Lewis family made their living buying and restoring houses, but the sprawling manor house just might push them to their limit. Can they overcome the evil that has taken so many before them, or will they just be the latest victims.

I'm really outgoing and get teased (a lot) for my knack to make friends anywhere including, but not limited to: the bank, the store, the bathroom, the movies... you get the idea.

A few of my fave things are my son, my yorkie, cupcakes, wine, coffee and (of course) tattoo'd boys.

I'm available on Twitter, Facebook and of course, here on Good Reads.

This book wasn't bad but the first half kind of irritated me. The first half was all police reports, newspaper reports & psychiatric reports. Then there was an interview with the girl that survived from the 90s family. I wish the author had written the story of each family like the last one. The last one felt like a normal book where you got to experience what they experienced as it happened. All the other families' stories were only told through the newspaper, police & psychiatric reports. I really think this could have been a 5 star book had it been written in parts and each part follows a different family and their experiences. I loved the last section of this book following Meghan and her family but like I said it was the only part written like that. Overall, an ok book but the execution was lacking.

One thing for sure is you don't want to live at 303 Red Lane at all. This is a awesome story that breaks into 3 different families and connects them all eventually. This is a stand alone but so perfect if you love paranormal thrillers (I guess you could call it that)

This house just won't stop the killings even centuries later. It's brilliant how all three families bare the wrath of this evil house that should be burned to the ground, lol.

The final family "The Lewis" have a chance to solve it before it's too late for them.....

Highly recommend this book and just for the fact all proceeds are donated to domestic violence makes it even better. I love how all three writers came up with this awesome story. Love them all!

Loved this book, I needed something scary and that is exactly what I got. I couldn't sleep for hours, I do not recommend reading at night, if you want to sleep that night anyways. These ladies wrote a great thriller suspense!

Really for me this was a 3-3 1/2 star book but I bumped it up to a four because all the proceeds go to a charity that supports educating against domestic violence and abuse. So even though it isn't the best book I've read, or even the best book I've read today, I still really want people to buy and read it.

I picked this up at Penned Con 2016 and got to meet all three authors who are lovely ladies.

My review, slightly biased by the fact that the proceeds go to charity: It was a quick, easy read. I wouldn't necessarily say fun and light hearted but it wasn't the spooky creep fest I was expecting either. I wouldn't exactly let my 11 year old read it, but younger teens, 7th grade mature kids or those that don't get nightmares easily would be fine. There is some violence and scary nightmare based ghostly things. Nothing worse than what you would see on Prime Time tv, less scary than American Horror Story.
I liked how the three authors each wrote a short story about a family that lived in that same house at different points in time (and that house was in the town I grew up in) and connected those stories to each other. There characters were likeable enough in the short time we were given to know them.
The writing was a bit simplistic in all three stories. The one that had the greatest potential to be really scary, the second story, was broken up and not scary because of the interrupting commentary from the newscaster. I would have rather had just an intro and a conclusion from the tv show and then uninterrupted story in the middle. With the story in clips, it lost the momentum and feel. I do like that she did something new with it and it wasn't just a regular flashback scene.

All in all, not a bad little piece. It's not the scary horror I was expecting, but I wasn't disappointed either. As an editor there were a few things that stood out to me on occasion, but NOTHING anywhere remotely close to what I've seen in other self published titles, so good job on that ladies.
