Ten phonics books + two fun activity books about a pup and his pop help young children learn to read.
Pup and Pop have lots of fun together--fishing, going to the park, visiting Pap, and more! Ten storybooks and two activity books feature phonetically decodable text. The text, which is vetted by two reading specialists, is based upon the latest research on how children learn to read.
A box full of twelve little 16-page books about a father and son having gentle slice-of-life moments. The text is probably decent practice for someone working on phonics, but they're pretty boring stories to read through from a literary standpoint. My family has held onto this box set for twenty years, but it is basically in mint condition because my daughter never really went back to it after we read through it together the first time when she was four.
Rereading them now was pretty dull, but at least I got to clean up the Goodreads records and the series page. I'm always happy to be cataloguing.
Scripted and patterned but my kindergartner thinks the stories are funny at the end. It incorporates rhyming words in an interesting and engaging way without being choppy to read. Good for end-of- kindergartner-going-into-1st-grade readers learning to read.
