Born in Toledo, Ohio some years ago (we will leave you guessing how many), Kari is a true Mid-western girl. Food, football (Go Irish!), traveling and books are some of her favorite things. Her love of traveling was probably a result of moving a great deal as a child from Ohio to Indiana to California and back again to Ohio. As an adult, this pattern continued as she moved from Ohio to Massachusetts to Illinois and finally settling in California (It’s been 10 years already). She has been very fortunate to have taken some amazing vacations: Europe (multiple times), New Zealand and Africa (her favorite trip ever!). Kari’s book collection is quite something and at last count her Kindle held over 300 books. Quite the investment.
Kari graduated from Ohio University (not to be confused with Ohio State) with a B.A. in accounting and finance and spent the next 20 years in various jobs from public accounting to corporate finance. After being down-sized from her last position as VP- Finance from a real estate company, she was looking for something new. Kari got her first dog, Max and met her co-author Carey Laubenberg and her next journey began

What a treat! This beautifully illustrated book is a must read to be savored over and over again. Max and Luther open a new window, shining a light on a central part of our national and local culture: the community dog park. These "tails" will resonate with a broad audience-from Del Mar, California to Dallas,Texas, and beyond.
By looking through Max and Luther's eyes and listening to their voices, we experience a new perspective. True Tails from the Dog Park is a delightful blend of humor, whimsy and wisdom. Guidance and advice are artfully interspersed among the amusing "tails."
Watch out, dear Abby,we look forward to more advice and stories from this savvy canine duo and their talented humans.

description

Join Max and Luther as they teach you all about the dog park…

Written from the perspective of doggy pals Max (a Puggle) and Luther (an Olde English Bulldog), True Tails From The Dog Park is a collection of tips, rules, and often hilarious adventures the two have experienced together at the dog park.

Full of sage advice on things like proper dog park etiquette, how to safely mix dogs and kids at the park, as well as beneficial health and grooming advice, this brief read is as entertaining as it is informative.

This cute little book will make you laugh and smile- both from the humorous accounts of their experiences, as well as the adorable cartoon illustrations by Julie Ann Stricklin.

I couldn’t help but note how I could have used much of the advice in this book before taking my lab mix Jack to the park for the first time -advice like “always be aware of your dog”, which may have prevented myself from being flipped upside down and landing in the mud as Jack careened into me while chasing another dog (I’m sure none of the other doggy parents at the park have forgotten that incident!).

If you are an animal lover and are looking for a good laugh- with some helpful advice thrown into the mix- then I recommend you pick up a copy of True Tails from the Dog Park. A charming book for dog lovers of all ages!

True Tails from the Dog Park by Max and Luther is a wonderfully entertaining and funny chronicle of life at the dog park for these two sweet dogs (along with their human authors, Kari Sherman and Carey Laubenberg).

The stories are told from the perspective of Max and Luther and enlighten the reader to what is good etiquette at the dog park and what is not. Max and Luther are very social creatures and want to play with all of the other dogs that enter the off-leash park, but some of the humans there make things a little difficult for them and their humans, Kari and Carey.

Some of the dog owners try too hard to control their dogs behaviors, much to the dismay of Max and Luther. Each story in the book teaches a lesson to dog owners as well as answers many questions that dog owners might have: What are the dog park rules? How do you approach a new dog at the park? What behaviors, however peculiar, will be noticed at the park?

I loved the illustrations throughout the book and would definitely recommend it to new and old dog owners alike.

What a fun idea for a book! I am a dog lover and this cover just screamed at me to read this, look at those faces! Of course, they do not look like two dog up to no good right? True Tails from the Dog Park is a compilation of hilarious stories told from Max & Luther’s point of view along with some of their furry friends. We do not have a dog park in our town, so it was fun to read all of the quirky ideas pet parents come up with do to at a dog park. I mean, who in their right mind would bring HUMAN FOOD to a dog park? You will find yourself laughing and possibly relating to some of these tales. You will learn the dog park rules and tips that are best to be followed or you may end up on the ground with a dog hovering over you wanting your sandwich! I loved the illustrations in this book, they paired well with the stories they were told about! Calling all dog lovers, if you haven’t read this book already, snatch it up, you will not be disappointed!

They also show humans that need help how to behave with correct manners, etiquette and consideration of others while at the dog park. Max & Luther have done a fantastic job with this book. This wonderful book is a wealth of information for people who take their dogs to dog parks. The stories are told by two dogs, Max and Luther. You will hook kids when you read the section titled, Picky Poop Eater. I laughed so hard when I read that Max was a poop eater. But, he was picky. He didn't eat his own poop, he ate other dog's poop. These cute stories are followed by signposts or newspaper looking articles that tell you what you should or should not do, There is definite humor the way this is written. We are told that dogs view kids as fun toys. The tales told from a dogs perspective are great for teaching adults and kids about dog parks.

I received a copy to help facilitate my review. The opinions expressed here are my own.

This is a child-friendly, compilation of dog park stories from a dog's perspective. In this case, a Puggle named Max and an English Bulldog named Luther. There are lessons to be learned such as how bringing food to the dog park and being on your phone are not good ideas.

The book serves as a fun handbook for any dog park newbie. In my own experience with dog parks, more dog owners could pick up a few things here.

This is a very cute book with good illustrations. I think it would be very helpful for young people so they can learn the rules of the Dog Park.

Also, in turn, they would what is polite and not polite when they are out with their dogs. In the meantime they will learn something about their own manners.

I would recommend it.
