The Men of Anderas #2

Dak the Protector

Rate this book
Kierin held him captive with her crystals but he couldn’t give her what she demanded unless he was free. If Dak gave the crystal witch what she wanted it would sentence him to death ...

The crystal witch bought him - naked and chained - from a slave market then held him prisoner with her amulet. With a death warrant on her head and Draagon’s Phantom Riders closing in, Kierin needed the one thing only an Anderan male could guarantee - a son. All she had to do was convince her prisoner to mate with her, fully aware that such an act would sentence him to exile or death.

Lord Beldon Dak, a proud Anderan warrior, would do whatever it took to stay alive and find a way to rescue his crew. But can he forsake his home and possibly his life for one night of passion in the arms of the crystal witch?

Needs several sequels

Excellent tale, well written. Prince Dak and his men stop for repairs to their spacecraft and become victims of slavers. It opens with Dak sold to a Crystal Witch. There is danger, betrayal, secrets and everything else to make a very good story. I was deeply into it up till they escaped from the villain. Then it jumps to 40 years later???? WHAT. I can't begin to list the loose ends that are dangling. What happened to the villain, his men in slavery, did the King show up? WTH!

I would have given more stars except for this abrupt end. And the 40 years later was not my idea of a HEA ending. Unless the author is planning on a lot of books to fill in these areas, I am very frustrated as a reader. And more so because this was very good.

Excellent tale, well written, for me obviously.

Prince Dak, Lord Beldon of Anderas and his crew stop for repairs to their spacecraft and become victims of slavers.
The book starts with Dak's intro regarding his current situating and his thoughts about his family on Anderas.
After months of imprisonment and humiliations he is finally sold to a crystal witch, Kierin.

Kierin is holding Dak captive with her crystal and she is taking him to her planet to convince him to get her pregnant. A pretty simple request but not really thought through. Dak didn't want to give in to her request because he didn't want to have a child that he had to abandon and because the laws of his planet would condemn him to death for mating with an outsider. His thought were to go home.

During their trip to Kierin's home Dak manages to free himself from the crystal, they meet the assassin Talon and get in trouble with Dragoon's man.
I do not want to give to many details and spoilers so I will keep it brief.
It was a very sweet love story with a bit of action. I loved Dak's care for Kierin even when he was under her crystal's control.
What disappointed me in the end, was the end. The leap in time and both characters out of the picture was not something that I was envisioning for the epilogue.

Dak's story is unique

Dak is missing for months and we find him held in a slavery town. He is sold to a crystal witch, who needs him to father her son so she can protect a secret.
Unfortunately Kieran uses her powers and creates a serious rift between them. Also the laws of Anderas say he cannot mate with an unapproved alien. The plot is very dark but a fitting episode for Dak.

Poor read

Was not a good read to me. Poorly written than her 1st book; which had me hooked. I read that one in a day. Disappointed.

Dak is a man above other men, and he broke my heart. I loved him!
