You know what James Bond drinks, but do you know what he eats? What is his favourite food? What is his favourite meal of the day? How does he like his steak? How does he take his coffee? This cookbook is full of exciting recipes inspired by the food described in Ian Fleming’s novels. The recipes, devised by the author, are modern, but have a period twist. The cookbook is intended for anyone who wishes to recreate the flavour of James Bond’s gastronomy. If you’re preparing a romantic meal for two or planning a Bond-themed party, or if you’re simply curious about the sorts of food Bond eats, this cookbook is for you. Eat like Bond throughout the day, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Ian Fleming's James Bond novels are full of action, excitement and......great food. Edward Biddulph provides a gastronomic tour of 007's adventures. He has not only meticulously researched Fleming's novels, but he has also studied the author's own taste in food. For those of us on a lower income than a top British agent the author has adapted the recipes so that they include ingredients found in most supermarkets.
Easy to follow recipes (I was very pleased with how my salt fish and ackee turned out), as authentic as possible to the era, with a fun commentary too (still laughing at the idea of Bond dipping toast soldiers in his boiled egg).
This was based on the Ian Fleming novels and not necessarily the movies. Explanation of why/what/where Bond was dining on the item of choice with an accompanying recipe. Most were a bit "high-fa-lutin" for me but you can make accommodations if you want your own dinner & movie night or book club get together.
As a fan of James Bond - perhaps the books even more than the movies - I found this book to be a delight. It's great to see all these meals that I have often enjoyed reading about all brought backnd fleshed out. What a great idea - to eat like James Bond!
