Insider's Guide to Campground Hosting in Florida Parks

Rate this book
Insider’s Guide To Campground Hosting In Florida Parks is for those who would like to spend some time in some of our great county, state and national parks and are willing to work in exchange for a campsite. We give the newcomer the skinny on how to apply, where to find the best places to volunteer and information on the benefits of helping our hard-working park staff.

There over 100 Florida State Parks, various Florida State Forests, Florida County Parks and a few National Parks and Forests that will give you a FREE campsite in exchange for volunteering. We will even explore some opportunities with our Florida Fish and Wildlife, Regional Water Management Districts, as well as other government agencies that can offer you a campsite with water, electric, possibly sewer on-site and more for a little bit of your time and sweat that will help keep our beautiful resources cleaned, maintained and repaired for all to enjoy.

We have visited and/or worked in quite a few of the Florida State Parks over the last 2 years and have gathered some great information for our fellow RVers. This is a great guide for people wanting to travel in a RV in the future, those just getting started as well as those who have been traveling, living, and working in their RVs for a while. Being a volunteer in public parks and land areas, whether they are county, state or national, helps keep them up and running, gives you a sense of accomplishment, and it even can give you a place to stay in a beautiful setting. Of course, you will be meeting and working with some interesting people, learning new skills, and enjoying the great outdoors.

Name: Jolene MacFadden born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. I was living and working from a RV full-time in whatever public land area I happen to be volunteering in at the moment. The RV got old and unusable so now I live in a small county in central, North Florida with my family.

Businesses: Southern Dragon Publishing, Southern Women Crafts and Jolene's Books and More.

Titles: I am a blog writer, editor, published author, social media consultant, website designer, self-publishing consultant, volunteer rving workamper and handcraft jewelry artist.

Goals: I want to eventually publish several books I have rattling around in my head and possibly open a used bookstore/tea and crafts shop. I am retired from the medical field where I performed almost every single job in the medical office and hospital account receivables are including, billing, collections, cashier, admissions, training and financial assistance over a 25 year period. I currently enjoy helping other authors get their books published and assist them in learning about marketing their stories on their websites and social media pages.

Accomplishments: I do have an Associate Degree in Accounting as well as several certificates in various software programs such as Microsoft Office Suites, Classes in Computer Programming and Certified Healthcare Access Associates degree. I have self-published several books over the last 10 years and am working on my first fiction series under the pen name L.J. Green.

Closer: If I didn't keep myself busy all the time I would just sit around reading, eating snack foods and occasionally jumping into the car to travel around the countryside just to see what's out there.

Delighted to meet a new author and find that we share a love of camping and recreational vehicles. This guide truly is a guide to the camper who is interested in volunteering in our state parks. While this book is specific to Florida, the information on what questions to ask, the pitfalls and how to get the most out of the experience is comprehensive and easy to understand. The list of the parks was clear and informative. A must have if you are interested in this unique way to travel year round or just seasonally.

We hope you will like this resource we created for those who would like to try volunteer workamping in one of our Florida's public land areas. We have included as much information as we can to help you plan your volunteer assignments. Knowing what each placement offers a live on-site volunteer, whom to contact and what they require in terms of duties and hours each week is always helpful before you apply for any of the positions.
