I think this could be fun for someone that likes casually such word games without too rigorous a critique of crosswords. For the person just trying out crosswords, this can be a good place to start. They start in this volume Easy and don't get harder than Medium. For me, some of the Easy clues solved with letter series are not as gratifying as hinting at a full word:

1. Iconic film actress, "---ty Davis"

2. "The King" of Rock and Roll, "---is Presley"*

...

4. "Revolu---n", a sudden, radical change

Also, for me, having the solution in the clue is a bit of a groaner.

21. Tommy of Cheech and Chong

Moving into Medium

2. Hasbro toy for aspiring chefs ---- -ake Oven"

The asterisks refer to hidden word & riddle answers. I enjoy the addition of these bonus puzzles.

There are no hard puzzles, but there are solutions. The puzzles in Easy and Medium progressively get a bit harder.

The final puzzle has very little black squares in a 15x15 grid and nearly 20 answers of eight or more letters in length.

I have always loved crossword puzzles. Especially the TV Guide ones. This book reminds me of those. Fun with some of the clues bringing memories and a smile to my face. They are not New York Times hard, which is great with me. I like a challenge but not getting frustrated and giving up.

What a cute way to solve crossword puzzles as all the clues will take you down memory lane & have you reminiscing about days gone by.
