Very effective study guide for the CAMS exam!
Since I am in the process of earning my CAMS certificate, I had the opportunity to receive this free e-book titled "Study Guide for the CAMS Certification Examination". The book is a practical guide on learning about the harmful effects that money laundering has on the economy, the many ways in which criminals utilize money laundering, and how representatives of financial institutions can detect and prevent such an activity.
The book is packed with explanations on the subject of money laundering as well as related criminal activities such as terrorist financing. Various real life case studies are featured that showcase the consequences of money laundering, such as financial institutions being slapped with fines for failing to enforce preventative measures and even arrests of individuals involved in the crimes. There are also examples shown of institutions successfully thwarting financial crimes as a result of good practice by members of the financial organization. The book also serves as an instruction manual on how to relay criminal information to law enforcement if their assistance is necessary to stop the crime.
Since the book is focused mainly on the viewpoint of compliance departments in financial institutions, it may be somewhat difficult to apply the writings within to other types of organizations. Also, the book leans more on the side of academia, but does a fair job at simplifying the terminology as much as possible so that the content can be easily understood by students and those working with financial institutions. I was also very pleased that the book includes a series of multiple choice practice questions in the final chapter, complete with the answers to said questions.
"Study Guide for the CAMS Certification Examination" is a great book that is meant to be studied by people taking the CAMS exam, but it is also a helpful resource for those interested in the subject of anti-money laundering. Readers will find enough information in the book to firmly grasp the topic and perhaps pursue further research if interested for more. For those of you studying for the CAMS exam, good luck and I recommend reading this book for your studies!
