Reminisce would blame the streets for the way her life turned out. She grew up poor, insecure and wanting the finer things in life. That’s where Jimmy came in at. He was a hustler and soon able to give Reminisce all the things in life she dreamed of. The problem was, Jimmy not only took care of her, and he also indulged in the finer things of life too. He was an obsessive cheater and a womanizer. Their relationship was entering the fifth year and things had gotten worse. But Reminisce loved Jimmy and was willing to put up with his bullshit as long as the money kept coming. But things changed when some men broke in the house to rob Jimmy and nearly killed them both during the robbery. Reminisce wanted out. She retreated to writing poetry, something she used to do as a little girl. She soon found strength in her heart to want out. Jimmy got arrested and she found her first real chance of leaving Jimmy. But would she make it on her own without the drug money Jimmy provided? Reminisce blames the streets but the streets doesn’t owe anyone any loyalty. Dangerously In Love is a modern love tale filled with danger, passion, and one woman’s dream of escape.
This book is a testimony of many women that has been through this and while it is easy to judge from the outside of what we will and won’t do in a relationship we really don’t know how we would handle it.
I feel like parts of the book is the authors life written in fiction. My heart hurt for her and her kids. I am patiently waiting on part two to see what is going to happen. This was an emotional roller coaster read, my feelings were up and down the entire book.
This book was an ok read ! In my opinion there was just to much going on. I sense that this is a first published book for this Author. I believe if the Author takes her time, to develop a more luring plot, and refrain from writing as if she is in a hurry. I would love to read more from this Author, before I decide rather or not, I will follow her. I rate this book 3 stars.
Ok this book has potential but it needs major work. It skips time frames like crazy! At first I was like wait..what.. Did I miss something, then I got used to it but that didn't make it less annoying. Inconsistent!! In one scene it stated Reminisce had plenty money but right after that she was struggling... Huh?? The grammar was awful. Stuff was bunched together. I honestly would read part 2 but I'm hoping that the author has it together by then
Growing up ,we all want what our parents have, but growing up in an abusive house hold is something we don't want to repeat ,but what to do if that the only thing we know. I glad Reminisce found a way out, she and her kids deserved more and better. It's hard letting go of what is so familiar and to take that leap of faith.Love this story, hopefully there is a of 2, cause the end is definitely a cliff hanger.
This book had me crying real tears. Reminisce was a broken and fragile woman. The men she encountered used this against her, and treated her like garbage. The cycle continued because her daughters also got treated badly by men who claimed to love them. Reminisce eventually found true love, but it was short lived. Jimmy was one person who couldn’t let go. He didn’t want her, but he didn’t want anyone else to give her the happiness she deserved.
This book had me so hot!!!! Reminisce was weak and very vulnerable. She let these men come into her life to use and abuse her. Jimmy was definitely her downfall in which she couldn't leave him alone. Her mom and dad loved her unconditionally and was always there for her. Tony was a good friend to her also. I pray for sny woman who's in the same situation get the help needed and get away before it's too late
Good emotional roller coaster read. This woman went through some stuff but she didn’t let it keep her down she got up dusted herself off and moved forward. I was so glad she got rid of Jimmy he didn’t know how to love her but didn’t want anyone else to have her. Good job Author Aletta Hodges first book I’ve read by you but it won’t be my last.
I felt that this book had a good story line but was all over the place. A lot of information kept popping in at random places and it got really confusing. Overall it was decent but it could have made for a really great book.
Good story. I'm actually reading part two now. It's good. Good read, somewhat of a good description, but one it was slow. Another thing is that sthe main character did not learn her lesson until it was too late. In my opinion, not many people get that many chances before the light bulb goes off and says it time to go. I mean, how many times someone going to tell you the sky is blue until you realize that the sky is actually blue. No matter what, in reality, i believe that a woman, especially with kids would not have put up with as much she did. And three, honestly, it's typical. It's not really nothing new to any other abusive story. And lastly, the title. Honestly, i thought when i first looked at the title, it was going to be like a Bonnie and Clyde type of book, not a love is blind type of book. Like i said good read, but nothing new.
