First Wave #8

Manipulating Mikey

Rate this book
Private first class Mikey Davis had known something was wrong when he stumbled upon a roadblock in the White River National Forest. The soldiers and deputies blocking the road didn’t look quite right, and everything in his instincts told him something was wrong. The last thing he remembered was a flaming alien craft headed straight for him. Mikey awoke in a military hospital and believed he was safe, but it didn’t take him long to realize just how horribly wrong he was. After two tours in Afghanistan, he’d seen the horrors of war, and brought them home in his mind. Still, nothing he’d seen on the battlefield compared to the insanity, pain, and rage he endured. Only one thing helped him cope—the beautiful eyes of the only person kind to him. Dr. Lauren Campbell had rarely been out of Fiorn’s Folly, but when she was called to try and help the damaged soldier, she found herself drawn to him in a way she never expected. His pain and loneliness called to her own and she soon set aside any reservations she had about getting close to a patient. Rescued by what he thinks is the enemy, Mikey will do anything to restore his good name with the military and rid himself of the alien disease, and Lauren will have to use every skill she’s ever learned in order to prevent the mentally broken man from turning against them all and destroying the only chance for them both to find happiness.

Action packed.

Pfc Mikey Davis can see things that others can't see. That's how he ends up being practically right under a UFO when it blows up! The next thing he knows he's in a hospital being interrogated by his own military as an alien! He tells them that he isn't an alien but is a private in the army with a tour of Afghanistan under his belt. They still say that he is an alien and torture him to find out how he infiltrated the army and where the alien base is.
From then on the action is non stop with Mikey caught up in a scenario that he has trouble believing!
Once again a good book spoilt by bad proofreading! I deduct a star for that so 4 stars!

Addictive series

Now that I'm reading these two intertwined series in reading order, I am totally hooked. Mikey ends up being a frustratingly stubborn man. He has trust issues so Lauren has a time with him believing in the Alliance. Mikey has an unique gift and finally used it for good. This is another action packed adventure.

A New Take

Writing the review title is the hardest part of the review. But tells you why I love these books is the easier part. The storyline is never dull and moves between characters storyline with east. This keeps the reader from getting bored while at the same time, does not rest the reader to take notes to let things straight. The hero, Mikey, is a mixture of both hero and prick as he struggles to come to terms with his life. Our heroine is both sweet and a bit naive as she
H comes to terms with some eye opening experiences. Throw in some bad guys that reminds me of some of our politicians today, and the story heats up. I'm not going to tell you more and spoil it for you.
Boy if you like romance, sci-fi , bad guys and mystery, get this book or any of the other books in this series.

As with the rest of this series - I loved this book. The story pulls you in and keeps you reading. If you like series books then you need to try this series. The author uses current events in all her stories which makes these books more interesting. She introduces you to a world that is just on the outer edges of your site.

Time well spent

Each book just gets better and better. Jim love the way she lets the story flow in its own time. The books do not feel rushed. But I still hate waiting for the next book cause I know it will be better!

Can't wait for the next instalment

This was a seamless addition to the story these series of books are telling, and the story is not done yet.
Really enjoyed getting to know Micky and to catch glimpses of characters from previous books.
