Episode Three

Rate this book
Samantha has had about all she can stand of her psycho stepbrother’s idea of wooing, and when an unexpected ally arrives on Arles’s doorstep, she may have finally found her escape plan.

Alex has been desperate to be part of the team, but now that he has to get his hands dirty, he’s finding teamwork isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Look Back in Anger Series Synopsis

Sam can't remember much of being a child, but the scraps of memory she clings to all hold the same terror--Arles Colfter. Now he's blackmailing her, threatening her elderly father, and forcing her to face a past long buried. Plus she's pretty sure he's a baby-eating werewolf.

In this urban fantasy novel, all SynthPet technician Samantha wants is to live quietly with her herd of cats and one-eared dog, but when Arles kidnaps her, she’s forced to unravel a thorny tangle of truth and lies, or risk being dragged down the rabbit hole into Arles's world of intrigue, gun-toting vigilantes, and...zombies.

WARNING: Look Back in Anger is a serial. This is episode three of six. Individual episodes may not have a completed story arc, as they are building blocks to a larger work, much in the way a season of television can be broken into smaller parts. Individual episodes may not all include the same elements, such as sex, violence, and mature language, but it should be understood that these are elements of the series as a whole and any individual episode may in fact include these elements.

If you have not read Episode One and Two, you are strongly encouraged to do so before beginning Episode Three.

The long awaited finale has arrived - finally!

I was so excited to read episode six, y'all wouldn't believe just HOW excited. I'm pretty sure I squealed like a wee little school girl when it went live.

I've been a fan throughout this journey, from episode one to now. There's been funny moments, sad moments, "bitch please" moments and of course, that one time that LMFAO's "Sexy and I know It" popped in to my head(it shall forever be associated with Zakai in my head!) back in episode four.

One thing I've loved about this serial as a whole, is how S.N. Graves has stepped away from the stereotypical He-Man-like heroes and let the main female take on that role, so to speak. I have mad love for Arles, but that he ISN'T some muscle-bound killing machine is one of the things that I dig most about him. As for Samantha? Sammy, Sammy, Sammy....What can I say? I'll be honest - at the beginning, I wasn't her biggest fan. I didn't DISLIKE her, but I didn't love her either. I was that evil middle-ground. Neutral. As the serial progressed, however, episode by episode, we began to peel back the layers that were Sammy. She began to grow in to her own. And what made it so great? She was discovering herself just as we, the readers, were discovering all these new facets of her. By the time this final installment rolled around, she's become ranked amongst my favourites(right up with there with Alex and Arles!)

I've loved how Graves has dropped little hints throughout the entire serial, hinting at things below the surface - lies Sammy thought were truths, missing pieces of herself and others as well. These little tidbits are, in part, what kept me coming back for more. Graves made me WANT to keep reading, to continue the journey and find out what was what. There was just enough drama, just enough romance, to make for a well-balanced, rounded-out story. Plenty of intrigue to keep readers coming back for more, and a menagerie of interesting characters beyond just the MCs that I can't wait to meet again.

Episode Six ties up the loose ends, completes the story and gives us the answers to questions raised from the get-go. It ends the tale of Samantha and Arles, yet leaves the door open for other characters and their stories. I honestly can't wait to see what else Graves has in store for us, what other tales are to be told in this world.

What a ride.

The story started a little confusing for me, but as the story went I began to understand.

This is the first book I have read by S.N. Graves but I know it will not be the last, she brings us to the future where nothing is what it seems. Cars drive hands free and pets are sweet synthetic animals. People can morph into strong creatures and dead bodies can come together in very weird evil creatures.

You get to meet a bunch of characters that you will not soon forget like Arles, Sam and her father Marx. Sam always believed Arles was an evil child and adult. She was certain he used to molest her and he killed his mother, Sam's step mother. But, Arles always said it wasn't true and as long as Sam stayed away from Marx she would remember the truth. You meet many people that want to help Sam like Vincent, Alex and Zakai members of Arles' "family". There is also Jerr, Sam's good friend who has been paid with the wrong news. How could I forget Ferrah, a sweet little girl who was treated like an animal.

Also, be careful who you trust because some people are only out to benefit themselves not worrying about who they hurt

This is a book you should read if you enjoy taking a fun ride with many twists and turns.

Amazing Urban Fantasy futuristic Book!"
This story is intriguing. The characters are fantastic. The story is excellent. Sam is a curvy gal who works for her Father and has problems remembering her past. One day she gets a call from her Father wanting her to come to his office. When Sam gets there she finds out her Dad has given her to her step brother Arles like she was a piece of property. Her Dad had got into some trouble and if she does not agree to go with Arles then her Dad will go to prison. Sam does not want to do this but she can not let her Dad go to prison she is not happy with this as the only memories she has of Arles is of him being a cruel person. Arles has always wanted Sam and at one time she wanted him now he just has to get her to remember all of her past. There are lots of mystery behind Sams loss of memory. Can Arles win Sams love again? Will she be able to remember all of her past?. What will happen when she does?. There are lots of spine-tingling suspense, action, and mystery in this book. This book has zombies, shape shifters and even magic users in it. So if you like suspenseful paranormal books you will love this book!

I was given an electronic copy of this book by the author for an honest review. I liked the main story surrounding Sam and Arles, though I wish that the author had been a little more straightforward about their non-human forms. The explanation of their origin was too far into the book and it lead to some confusion in the beginning. With regards to the sheer number of paranormal creatures, there were too many and this book suffered because of it. The futuristic additions such as "synthetic" animals and comm links muddied the waters for me. The author had a lot of great ideas, but just more than one book could handle.

I found myself losing faith in Arles and Sammy a bit, but it wasn't hard to keep reading. Graves does a great job of reeling you in and devastating you before setting things right again. I am dying to know how she's going to bring it around next episode. This one was by far the darkest. Fortunately there is plenty comic relief in-between.

I really really loved this action packed Episode and can not wait for the rest of the story. Come on Episode Five and Six. First time I am ever waiting for the next in a series to come out. Thank you S.N. Graves for renewing my interest in Paranormal Romance. I love the character development, the complicated relationships, and the slow build to the surprising climax I know is sure to come.

***I received an ARC for an honest review***

Sam and Arles are my favorite characters, and I want so badly to know what happens with them. I love that Sam is slowly remembering their past, and that she feels that desire for Arles. Graves keeps me wanting more, and I love that. Can't wait to read more and see what happens!
