Whiskey on the Rocks She's brave, crazy, dangerous... and your best shot of crossing the galaxy alive. Captain Shaen Morris may be certifiably insane. Her ship the Belle Starr may look like a rusty, lobster-shaped piece of junk. But for the right price, they'll get you off-world, using the interdimensional portal known as "the Passage." When a robot shows up with some unusual cargo, Shaen questions its motivations. When it refuses to power down during transit, she questions whether the fare is worth it. Something lurking in limbo endangers them all, and it takes some fancy flying to get everyone out alive.
Bluegrass Hoosier living in southern Indiana, working in Louisville, Kentucky. My first fiction novel (a steampunk fairy tale) was published in 2013. Reader of pulpy fantastic tales. Lover of tasty beverages, including but not limited to coffee, tea and bourbon. Fan of soulful, old-timey music.
I believe in real things. But my definition of "real" is quite expansive.
Great premise to a world. Awesome start, introducing characters and settings. Explanations of how this authors world operates and the laws within. And just when you think you are getting to the meat of the story...Poof.. The end. I much rather prefer a longer novel, I love books, tho epics do tend to get long winded. But this book, and the reason I had to give 4 stars. It's a dime store pamphlet when I was looking for novel to sip cocoa with. Yes, I'm harping on the length of the printed matter, only because the rest was so glorious and made me want to read more. Maybe the next installments are longer. Maybe I'll need to start paying a bit more attention to page count on my choices. Either way it goes, this was a great preview to a story I want to read more about.
