I was very intrigued by the blurb of this book and thought that this would be a nice, naughty novel with lots of steamy moments in the οffice. Well, I can't say that I got what I thought I would get.

Jackson is the new CEO of the recording company & even though he thought that his old pal and vice president Eric, would become president, they both get surprised when there's a new person taking over this place, Milan.

Eric wants to win her over just to bed her , even though Milan isn't available. Jackson doesn't want to mix business with his personal life, especially after being cheated, by his ex, who had made a record deal on his company as a singer, before he found out about her unfaithful act.

Jackson & Milan make a great team and their chemistry is obvious. So obvious that Eric gets jealous and wants to get his revenge, because he feels betrayed and that Jackson always gets what he wants. Eric had always been envious of Jackson, even though he acted like a friend, he was actually a backstabbing snake on his neck.

There's a lot going on in this novel & I liked the sense of adventure , while people were plotting against Jackson & Milan, along the insecurities of them while working their way to see where they would end up, with her abusive boyfriend, Jackson's ex girlfriend etc.

I'm going to say what I didn't like in this book, but I'll add it on the spoiler section. This is strictly personal, maybe others wouldn't mind about these facts, but they didn't sit well with me and sadly they affected my rating.

Overall, apart from these issues, I think it was a good plotline & had potential.

This was my second book to read by M. Skye, and I was impressed all over again. Reading her first novel, I had to get used to her style of writing, (several POV) but once I did, I was hooked! I kinda like knowing what everyone is thinking in the situation, it drives the scene home for me. I'll get into what I loved about this book and then I will touch on my cons.

First off, I love the two main characters. Milan and Jackson have the best chemistry and sexual tension that paves the way for their insanely hot sexual situations. They work well together and I felt like I could really picture them with how they were described. I love how they meet and click within a few hours of knowing each other. Although Milan is in a relationship in the beginning, they are able to build a friendship that leads to an even better romantic relationship. Jackson is described as an absolute god in the bedroom and is so sweet when it comes to Milan. He is not what you expect given the gossip floating around the office about him. So I absolutely loved how they were explained.

Next, although many people will think i'm crazy for this, I loved the character of Eric. He was vindictive, irrational, and Jealous to the point of insanity. He was a horrible friend while all Jackson did was support him. I can't say that I agree with the things he did, but it made for juicy drama. Eric is one of those characters you love to hate, and he gave to story line a wow factor.

Thirdly, I love the bond Jackson shared with his sisters. They were all older and it showed because they teased him to no end about his feelings prompting him to finally come clean.

Cons:
It wasn't a big deal, but I really wished we could have gotten more background on who Milan was before she came to Los Angeles. I suspect with the way it ended, that there will be a second part, and maybe we will get our answers then. Also, I wish we could have gotten more interaction between Jackson and his nieces. The instances they had together were adorable, and I felt like it would have really sold me more on what type of father he would be because he wanted children so badly.

Overall, I give it 4 stars. I was genuinely intrigued., and the cover helped. The male on the front is yummy. A special thanks to M. Skye for letting me review again!

Two best friends, one record label and a woman cause trouble in Mixing Business and Pleasure by M. Skye. Jackson Whitmore received a promotion as CEO of Envision record label and is ready to step up his game. Jackson is excited that he has his best friend, Eric to help run the show. These two work well together until the new employee starts.

Milan Wells walks into Envision records and immediately wants to put her womanly touch on everything. Both Eric and Jackson feel drawn to Milan but she knows it’s not good to mix business with pleasure. Milan has an instant attraction to Jackson which soon causes trouble between the two best friends. When Eric challenges Milan to a little competition to feed his ego, Jackson tries to step in to mediate.

Jackson and Milan soon become close and fall in love, which doesn’t set well with Eric. Eric soon plots revenge but will he take it too far.

Mixing Business and Pleasure is about friendship. Jackson and Eric’s friendship is tested because of a woman. The limits a person will take for revenge is crazy. This book was entertaining even though the plot was predictable. I did like the twist close to the end.

Jackson Whitmore is 29 and President of a growing music company. He is partnered with his best friend and vice president, Eric Jameson and they are the dynamic duo of this up-and-coming company. Now, comes the time for someone to step up and down, the CEO. Michael Miller becomes a member of the Board of Directors thus giving up his position of CEO. He promotes Jackson to CEO and brings in a new President, Milan Wells, and the tension flares.

Milan Wells hits the ground running, coming in with great ideas and promises of signing a new, talented artiste. This soothes the waves of her and Jackson while increasing the friction between her and Eric. On top of this, Eric sets his sights on bedding her which brings rise to feelings of discord with Jackson, when Eric won’t take no for an answer. Eventually, Jackson has to intercede when Eric’s competitiveness overflows and ventures into areas that could cause devastation. When this happens, it throws a huge wrench into the dynamic duo and pure treachery arises.

M. Skye penned an engagingly intense novel that takes us on journeys, twists and turns. Mixing Business and Pleasure does just that on all accords and keeps us fully immersed in the process.

Given To Me For An Honest Review

Mixing Business and Pleasure by M. Skye is a must read. Once you open the first page, it will grab you and hold you on the edge of your seat and then you'll watch the pages turn and turn and turn some more until the end. Jackson and Eric are friends and business partners. Milan becomes in charge of their music business. They are both interested in Milan. Jackson soon discovers Eric's deep seeded jealousy and then Milan's violent ex shows up. When business, love, sex and jealousy are all added together this novel becomes OMG and it stays that way until the end. I really loved this book. Once you finish reading it, you just may re-read it again, I did. I gave this book 5 stars only because that was the most I could give. I highly recommend this book to all. I look for more from M. Skye.

Loved this story of Jackson and Milan! The setting and characters are believable and invite you to read on! The jealousy and manipulations of Eric can not stop the bond between the couple. Some of my favorite scenes are captured in Jackson, the successful and protective hero! Milan also demonstrates strength and perseverance in getting out of a violent relationship. The ending left you asking........what next and the possibilities are endless! Can't wait for the rest of the story to unfold and further give us a look into the complexity of life! Great read

I love Mixing Business and Pleasure. It takes place in to the music world. The characters are believable. I believe the author depicts all the characters well. Jackson was my favorite character. He knows what he wants and goes after it. Plus very protective of anyone he cares about. The way it is written it makes it hard to tell what's going to happen next. It is also good to see African American characters in high profile places. If you have not purchased this book go get it this is a must buy.
