Must read for all dentists. I find information as a dental student, given in this book, extremly valuable and believe Howard is one of the leaders of business oriented dentists. I wish he writes another book.

P.S. This book is not just for dentists, although it has a lot of detal examaples which are easy to understand.

I have been provided an ARC of this book from NetGalley. All the opinions are my own.

Read this book if you are in the dentistry business (A MUST)/ only thinking about starting a business / if you have a business and want to be more successful at running it / if you want to learn about what it takes to run a business effectively!

I loved Howard Farran's narration and this book gets a huge high five for coming up with an interesting and informative way of showing you how to handle different aspects of your business. The book is divided into 3 different sections (People, Time, Money) and in each part Howard passes on wisdom as well as inviting some of his work colleagues to share their part of the story.

The only part I found a bit weaker than the rest is Howard talking about the hire and screening process, but even that was compensated with the fact that by delegating that task to a professional on his team he achieved a much higher rate of successful employment stories.

He makes a ton of references to the dentist business because this is his field but the examples are valid for every industry that caters their products to people (and that's everyone). This book is worth the money and the time because it shows what leadership is about, how to avoid certain legal issues, how to make tough decisions and how to stay in the game for the long run.

Some practical things you might care to know: Howard explains how to find your niche, how to do research and to determine what are the chances of your success before starting, how to work with competition, how to stay professional and even what to do when a client refuses to pay. Great stuff!

Brilliant and much recommended!

I loved the author's motivation and energy. As he is a dentist, it was nice to read a business minded book that gave a lot of dental examples. It helped to get some remotivation and inspiration when getting lost in the daily grind of business and balancing motherhood.
