Elizabeth Bennet meets Fitzwilliam Darcy earlier and befriends the haughty gentleman but he is keeping a secret that causes strife between them. But as they begin to understand each other better, more secrets are revealed that astonishes their families' past.
This is one of my favourite authors, I usually really love her stories and enjoy the writing. However not this one. This writing was very rushed jerky and just not good . The story was fairly good but execution was not I am very sorry to say.
Quick read, but a lot happens in it. What I enjoyed; that Darcy was steadfast! And... That Georgians didn't fall into Caroline's false tales. Something I think I could read again.
It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. You will see the most beloved characters in a whole new way. Elizabeth Bennet meets Fitzwilliam Darcy earlier and befriends the haughty gentleman but he is keeping a secret that causes strife between them. As they begin to understand each other better, more secrets are revealed that astonishes their families' past. So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. It’s a must read. I highly recommend to everyone.
Spoiler alert! There’s such a thing as too much forgiveness. It’s ridiculous that a murderer who accidentally kills somebody instead of poisoning their rival should be forgiven by the family. It’s toxic for forgiveness to be extended to the relative who’s obsessed with his sister (who’s really a cousin). The dude beats her lover nearly to death for stealing her virtue from him (what?) Then proceeds to beat her (while she’s pregnant) so badly that it causes a lifetime health condition for her child. That’s not even all of it. If a character is going to be a bad guy, let them be a bad guy and get there just desserts. Ugh!
Absurdities pile upon absurdities in this short (132 pp) novel that manages to seem overly long despite its brevity, I believe because it lacks a normal story arc, substituting instead a series of silly situations where the characters' thoughts and actions are inconsistent from scene to scene. There is a great deal of telling, not showing, and some pretty terrible dialogue along the way. The twists go way too far, and the suspense regarding the secrets is just annoying.
I so love this book! I truly was not expecting the outcome of the story. I kept on guessing who is going to end up with whose partner! I highly recommend! I definitely will read this book again.... and again....
If you keep in mind that this is a short story and the information must be crammed in and move fast, then yes, this is a great story. I do agree the villains got off way to easy, that was most unbelievable for me. No one would forgive such actions.
