This is shaping up to be a great series, and actually respectable in terms of BDSM books I've read. There's little drama here... which may turn some folks off, but this is really about character development between the two. FSOG seems to have set people up to presume that the only reason to want to enter into BDSM is because you've been abused in your past... and there are a ton of copycat books out there that try to do the same thing. I love this series because it shows two everyday people -- without the dramatic crap -- who enjoy their sexy playtime in a non-vanilla way.
The scenes are detailed, sexy, steamy, erotic. She's a bit funny, open minded... I'd like to learn more about her. Given that this is a trilogy, I am expecting the character development to really blossom in book three... if only the author read these reviews. Sigh.
So many elements I liked: J's neurotic thoughts; his uncanny ability to read her mind; the journaling. His interest in her as more than a plaything is still a bit unclear to me. There's not enough of the relationship-y stuff in this to make me comfortable. And perhaps that's done purposefully. But, I feel like I'm waiting for another shoe to drop... will Sir ever be wrong, make a mistake, want to take this further with her? So far things are going really well, but life is never perfect.
I'm not sure why there's an Epilogue when there's supposed to be a third book??
Oh and ha ha for the author mentioning his other series in this. Talk about product placement.
