Dominique Urvoy is a historian of Islamic philosophy and French Islamologist .

He is a professor at the University Toulouse-II Le Mirail .

minique Urvoy spent a license sociology in 1965 and the aggregation of philosophy in 1967. He then obtained a PhD studies Arab and a doctorate in letters , respectively in 1974 and 1978 . He has been a researcher and teacher in Madrid , Damascus , the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), Beirut , Dakar and Toulouse .

He is the husband of Marie-Thérèse Urvoy , with whom he has co-written several books: The Words of Islam (2004), The psychological action in the Koran (2007), and The Mentente. Dictionary of doctrinal difficulties of the islamo-christian dialogue (2014).

He has been a member of the Academy of Legislation since 2001

شاید در فارسی منابع خوب دیگری برای ابن رشد باشد ولی من همین را دیدم البته گذشته از دو کتاب تألیفیِ به درد نخور که حیف کاغذ بودند و برای من حداقل به کاری نیامدند. مدخل دانشنامه تألیف مرحوم شرف از این دو کتاب بهتر بود. ولی کتاب اوروُی روشنگر است و حداقل می‌شود فهمید ابن رشد چرا اهمیت دارد گرفتار چه فضایی بود، مخاطبش از او چه می‌فهمید، برای کی می‌نوشت اصلاً و اینها.
ترجمه کار را ضایع نکرده گاهی هم اجتهادهایی کرده که بامزه می‌شود یا مخل. ولی باید باهاش راه آمد دیگر. البته من فرانسه نمی دانم که بفهمم چقدر در ترجمه چکار کرده و اینها.
