Just re-found this book. It is rather minimalist? Both the information in it & the explanations. But maybe the author assumes that the reader has much broader knowledge than i do! It is written with easy to understand descriptions & has pretty clear pictures. I seem to think it is a good book to support the knowledge(if you have it already) you have. & Maybe even fill in some missing gaps...but first you need to know enough to have gaps ;)
The Acupuncture Treatment of Pain isn’t necessarily a how to book about acupuncture. Instead, I would call it bridge work, trying to show western medical professionals that acupuncture is a valid, scientific treatment option for pain and for addiction. In this way, the book focuses on demystifying the practice and explaining it in more contemporary terms. There is also an emphasis on the importance of the pulse as a means of defining energy flow.
With that said, the book does make some good solid effort to show specific points for particular conditions. Usually, this is a handful of points complete with location information. Black and white illustrations show these body points. Points on the ears are also included which is a nice added touch.
