When Elizabeth Clark is plagued by the idea for a kinky novel she can’t shake, she has no choice but to plunge head-first into a genre she vowed never to pursue. But when she realizes the seductive allure of submitting her will, her interest in the BDSM lifestyle becomes less academic and downright personal.

Dominant and club owner, Chase Masters, has no idea what to expect when his partner books a meeting with an author doing research on the BDSM scene, but he’s blown away with the woman who walks through the door. He’s sure at first that she must be a visiting Domme, not the author. Her manner is confident, brusque, and even a bit disapproving of his lifestyle, but when he switches from his easy-going club owner mindset into his Dom voice, she instantly backs off. Perhaps she’s more submissive than she let on.

Chase and his club are in the crosshairs of a local senator and the bank, and he fears he might lose everything. So when Liz grudgingly agrees to be his, if only for a few weeks, he’s elated. But what kind of long-term relationship can a broke, out of work, homeless Dom offer to a burgeoning submissive who won't submit outside of the bedroom?

Research in the name of writing…oh yes.
Every author has to go through it and when writer Elizabeth Clark is plagued by dreams of a sexy Dom that she just can’t shake, she takes things up a notch. Appearing at a local BDSM club, she meets Chase Masters, club owner and Dom. The two react to each other like oil and water, setting a great conflict for the rest of the book.
Elizabeth hates that she can’t get rid of the desire to write about BDSM. Stopping and starting, her fear is soon eclipsed by desire for the hot and drool worthy Chase Masters and she embarks on a journey of submission and awakening. The other issue is Elizabeth’s senator father who is trying to shut down the club. She is unaware of the problem until the end of the book, but the tick tock time element was a good addition to the plot and gave Chase a real reason to be a bastard some of the time. Too much pressure with the threat of the club being shut down and issues with his family. He and Elizabeth both have anger issues to work through, but during the trial period they set up, both find out things about each other that push things into much deeper water.
The conflict with Elizabeth and her father in her own right was something I could also identify with. He hated what she was and what she represented, especially when he discovers some of her writing. The horror and dread of what she went through chilled me. *shivers*
I am a sucker for loving books about writers learning new things in the name of their craft. Sometimes they are ho-hum, but others, like this one, kept me reading long after I should have been working, sleeping or writing on my own deadlines. Author Rachelle Nichole has a way of capturing the emotion of a scene and making you want to just be there, sucking it all in. I felt the trepidation Elizabeth experienced when Chase tied her down in their initial meeting and the angst he felt later. Wow.
The sex scenes were hot and she got into some fine detail that others lack in the way she described them. I totally loved it. Hot, kinky and a great twist at the end had me grinning like a Cheshire cat. I will be standing in line for the next book-I hope there will be one- and am happy to have her holiday book in my e-reader right now. Nicely Naughty 2, an anthology with the amazing Nona Raines and Caitlyn Willows.
So grab this book and enjoy the ride. It was a great read with some snappy dialogue and I can’t wait for more!

This book was a little different than what I expected. I expected another book centered around a kink club. What I got was a really sweet romance with a little kinky lovin thrown in.

I liked Liz from the very beginng. She’s smart and ambitious. She’s a published author of erotic romance and reasonably successful. But she keeps getting pressured from her agent and various publishers to write a book about BDSM, something she knows nothing about; something she is pretty sure she could never do. The very thought of letting a man boss her around makes her shiver, and not in a good way. Her father controlled every aspect of her mother’s life, and tried without much success to control hers. After dealing with a controlling father, there is no way she would ever let a man control her, so she keeps putting her agent off, not even wanting to write a book about the subject. But her own late night fantasies keep waking her up totally aroused, and those bedroom fantasies make her decide to look into the possibilities.

Chase was a little more problematic for me. He’s nothing like any Dom I’ve read before. Not quite as polished. Not quite as confident, and he definitely doesn’t have all of his ducks on a row. In fact, he is losing his club. I am sure that this is possible, but I’ve never seen a Dom in fiction who wasn’t totally in control of very aspect of his life. He was not pleased when his business partner and best friend, Dusty, set him up to speak with an author wanting to know more about the BDSM lifestyle for a book she’s writing.

This story was a little confusing. We have a woman who has very little inclination to be a submissive and Dom who has no trouble switching and bottoming for his sub when he’s upset. It was never clear to me when Liz decided that submitting in the bedroom didn’t make her weak, and it was never clear to me that Chase was a Dom anywhere outside the bedroom to begin with. While this dynamic would not be unusual in another romance, I found it highly unusual for a story featuring a BDSM club owing Dom. Don’t let my confusion about that make you think I didn’t enjoy this story, because I did.

This is a well written, fun story. It is probably a perfect read for anyone who thinks Doms are too hardcore, or a sub is too weak. These two are very well balanced and their journey to an HEA is sweet and sexy, and not too heavy on the kink, so that readers who like a more vanilla couple can still enjoy this read.

In the first book of what I am sure will be an interesting series of books, Author Elizabeth Clark, initially follows a journey that perhaps another erotica author should have taken in researching her own BDSM fiction. Eliz has a new book to write, and having no real experience, she decides to visit the K Club. There she meets the owner and Dom who instead of a rich businessman with questionable ethics, Chase Masters is a small business owner struggling to keep his business going against the local senator who want it closed. But things soon get hot between Liz and Chase, when she agrees to a 4-week agreement to be a part time sub all in getting the help she needs to write her book. But things go a lot further then both of them expected.
I recommend this novel to anyone looking for a quality representation of BDSM erotica, regardless of whether you have personal experience with the lifestyle or are just interested in educating yourself.

Elizabeth Clark is a romance novelist struggling with her decision to delve into the realm of BDSM novels. She is also struggling with her own curiosity and desires. Enter stage left Chase Masters, dealing with the loss of his business at the hands of a puritanistic senator, he is drawn to Liz, and agrees to help her with her research in order to present a true to life picture of the lifestyle. Liz and Chase have more in common than at first glance, and are tied together by a common thread. Will pulling the thread cost them any chance they have at happiness?

This story is about Elizabeth, a writer who wants to write a BDSM book but doesn’t know much about the lifestyle. She meets Chase, Dom and owner of the K Club. Elizabeth is a smart and strong person. Their relationship is interesting to follow as they are very different but their chemistry is too strong to deny. In summary: great story, well written, with engaging characters.

Terrific!

Book 2 in the series. Elizabeth the romance author and Chase the BDSM club owner bring the heat to this book. Can't wait to read more of the series.

I read a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review.

A very enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this book as I did the first K Club book. Strong characters, a great story line, and two people figuring out how to be with each other made for a good story.

Disclaimer: I am friends with the author; however, I purchased this novel at full price.

This was my second official foray into the erotica genre--this time, without the cushion of the paranormal to root me in something familiar! I also normally stay far, far away from novels where the protagonist is also an author. However, a conversation with author Rachell Nichole convinced me to give her book a shot.

I have not read any of the Fifty Shades books, but I've had enough conversations with fellow authors to be wary of the author's depiction of the BDSM subgenre (mental and emotional abuse aren't sexy, kids). Nichole told me that in a way, To Sir was her reaction to that craze.

The main female protagonist, author Elizabeth Clark, is NOT a wish-fulfillment stand-in for author Rachelle Nichole. Instead, Clark initially follows a journey that perhaps another erotica author should have taken in researching her own BDSM fiction. Nichole does not shy away from showing us the realities of the subculture, including the not-so-sexy bits. Instead of a rich businessman with questionable ethics, the male protagonist (Chase Masters) of To Sir is a small business owner struggling against the other side of the Fifty Shades craze--the vocal minority who believe that no sex should be fun.

The initial clash between Clark and Masters is delightful, and the growing relationship, and then romance, between them is cleverly played out among both external and internal conflicts for the characters. Nichole lets her readers visit the inside of both character's heads in such a way that both sides of the relationship are portrayed equally, along with subtly educating readers that both sides of a BDSM are equal.

The ending is one that many readers probably see coming from about halfway through the book, but definitely in such a way that we are pleased to be proven right rather than disappointed by any use of cliche. I'm actually looking forward to eventually re-reading this novel for the story line alone, and not just for the excellent steamy bits.

I highly recommend this novel to anyone looking for a quality representation of BDSM erotica, regardless of whether you have personal experience with the lifestyle or are just interested in educating yourself. This novel treats the culture with respect and intelligence rather than exploiting misinformed public stereotype.

Rating: 4.5 (out of 5) stars.

Hearts on Fire Review

**** 4 1/2

Original Review Published here: http://heartsonfirereviews.com/?p=29307

Elizabeth Clark is a successful writer of contemporary erotica who is being haunted by her dreams of a kinky novel. She tried to ignore it and focus on other projects to no avail. Therefore, she does what every good writer does research! Elizabeth is having a hard time dealing with her family and their values. To the point that she tries to be hard do the opposite whether she even realizes it.

Chase Masters is a Dom and club owner is a small town. The local senator and his friends are out to shut the club down and are doing everything they can. They even go so far as to try to rezone the area. If that’s not enough stress, Chase is tasked with trying educate Elizabeth in BDSM. Chase while its apparent that he is a Dom is at the end of his rope. He has the ability to compartmentalize his life so one part does not bleed over onto the other.

The connection between Chase and Elizabeth is intense. They make a great couple. Elizabeth keeps Chase on his toes and seems to fill the need he has in a sub. She is also not the type of sub he ever thought he wanted. They make a great pair. The sex scenes are blistering and l loved the scenes when Elizabeth takes control.

I found this book very well written with an interesting plot line. It’s not every day that we see a Dom so at a loss. The ending was a perfect way to end the book. The book build up to the ending very well even if its apparent three quarters of the way through. Overall, this was a great book. I hope we get to see more of these characters in the future.

Lace's Review:

BDSM is one of my preferred genres to read, so I am always quite pleased when I find a BDSM that is a little different from the others I have read. Rachell Nichole killed it with To Sir. Even though I think this book borders on erotic, contemporary romance with a slap and tickle side of the BDSM realm, it was still a fabulous read.
