I received this book from Destiny Image in exchange for an honest review.

Jeff Eggers writes about his experience being a prophet and offers guidance on how to develop these skills within yourself. He is a minister at the International House of Prayer (IHOP) in Kansas City.

The review of this book says it will guide you to "hear God’s voice with greater clarity and discover how you cultivate a prophetic heart by growing in intimacy with Christ. Sounds great. But really the book seems more like a guide for IHOP and their beliefs.

The book is based upon the premise that everyone has been given prophetic gifts. Jeff says if you are not hearing God, you are either not listening or not asking a direct enough question. Interesting theory. But throughout the book, he gives examples of how God told him to tell another a message, even to those practicing in his own ministry.

The book does give some good guidance on opening yourself up, but the theory that anyone can speak for God is a dangerous one. In fact IHOP has had some bad press in the past for just that.

I'm giving the book two stars for the guidance, but I can't support the overall message.
