Lucy's college graduation trip to Hawaii comes with an unexpected roommate. A one-night-stand with a man twice her age quickly turns into more, but she's just starting a new life post-graduation. She doesn't need a relationship, no matter how much her heart says otherwise. Mason knew their one-night-stand was a bad idea and so is this vacation fling. He shouldn't be chasing after his new step-cousin, but Lucy needs protection. She's too innocent to be out on her own. When Lucy accidentally jeopardizes his career, Mason has to decide between love and his future. A new job and the end of their vacation should put their fling behind them, but maybe a miracle could bring them back together.
Jane Poller read her way through middle school, and she swore someday she’d be an author. Romance books got her through countless life changes… moves, degrees, having kids, deployments, teaching high school, international living, health coaching, running a wellness business, homeschooling, and more. She finally gave in to the characters in her head demanding their stories be told. The Crimson Creek series is a contemporary steamy small-town romance set in a fictional town in Texas. Speaking of, she lives in Texas with her middle school sweetheart. He’s her real-life hero, Army veteran, and the inspiration for her stories. When she’s not doing all the things, she’s reading and writing. Or arguing with her characters, who refuse to do what she wants. But that’s par for the course, since she’s currently raising teenagers and two dogs. Those reviews really brighten her day and are much appreciated.
The next emotionally-charged instalment in the Crimson Creek series doesn’t disappoint. Once again, we have two people with an undeniable connection, who are too afraid to admit their feelings. As I’ve said in the past, Jane is a mistress at angsty love stories that make you wish you could jump into the pages of her books and shake some sense into her characters. Though Mason is attracted to Lucy, a recent trauma has had him swearing off relationships due to the dangers of his job. However, from the first moment Lucy finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time, she can’t seem to avoid inadvertently getting tangled up in Mason’s work, which only makes him all the more determined to keep her out of his life. After a seemingly ill-advised one-night stand, it takes a bit of finagling on their grandparents’ part to get Lucy and Mason together by tricking them into a Hawaiian vacation, with their close proximity turning up the heat. The exotic setting gives plenty of opportunity for Lucy and Mason to share exciting adventures and even more exciting sex, though both agree this was just a fling. But although they’re willing to share a bed (amongst other things), Lucy is once again accidentally mixed up in one of Mason’s investigations, which not only puts her life in danger, but jeopardizes Mason’s career. However, as their time together draws to a close, and they return to their regular lives, a new opportunity draws Mason further away, while Lucy deals with an unexpected surprise. A darn good read—even if it seemed a tad long in the middle. 🫤
This is a great series by Jane Poller. The last couple of books have sort of dragged in the middle, but are still very much worth your time. This one has great depth and the main characters—Mason and Lucy—are so well written. The storyline is terrific; the characters are great; the plot twists and turns keep you guessing; and the HEA is totally worth the wait. I definitely think this book belongs on your TBR shelf! ❤️❤️
Mason and Lucy are brought together by some meddling by relatives. A trip to Hawaii turns out to be a steamy age gap fling that neither think they want more from. Lucy unknowing gets caught up in Mason’s work. The author’s writing always brings me to be invested in the characters but I did feel it was a bit slow at times. It was a good read with steamy chemistry, sweet moments, lack of communication, humorous times and plot twists that lead to a heartwarming HEA.

An enjoyable sixth book in this series Crimson Creek. The story flows well and easy to read. The author gives us characters that you get invested in and want to see their happily ever after. The chemistry between these characters is great. I enjoyed this book and series. You will like them all.
A great story that keeps you glued. I loved Lucy and Mason, an emotional and wonderful story with some drama, chemistry and attraction and many steamy moments.
