Thomas M. Myers, M.D., grew up in Flagstaff, Arizona. His interest and passion for the Grand Canyon began in his youth and he has been hiking and exploring in and around the Canyon most of his life. Co-author of two books, Over the Edge: Death in Grand Canyon and Fateful Journey: Injury and Death on Colorado River Trips in Grand Canyon. Over the Edge is his most recent collaboration (2001) co-written with Michael P. Ghiglieri and covers every known death in the Grand Canyon in recorded history. Well-written and easy to read, it is an excellent book for any Canyon enthusiast.
*I read this book, I did not listen to the audio book. But the print version of the 3rd edition released in 2024 is not on Goodreads*
I picked this book up at Hermit's Rest when I visited Grand Canyon for the first time this past Memorial Day. Myers and Ghiglieri have ample experience at the NP and their knowledge of GCNP really show throughout the book. While overall a morbid subject, it is important to hear about these stories. As they mention in their book, hopefully it also helps people avoid series trouble in the future
