Such a great read!!

I fell for the cover before I even read the synopsis. Lol. I'm a sucker for sexy, complex, nail-biting sports romances. When I read the synopsis for Carson and Maree's story, I knew there was going to be some drama, secrets, misunderstandings, and some steamy moments.

And whewwweee I was soooo right. This book had me in ALL of my feelings. Carson and Maree had been college sweethearts. Carson was on the football team about to go pro when Maree found out she was pregnant. For her own reasons, Maree leaves college, and Carson never sees her again for 7 years. Jump ahead Maree's been hired as his physical therapist due to a rotator cuff injury. But unbeknownst to Carson, he has a daughter he never knew about. Ok, this review might get a little long. So I apologize.

My first impression of Carson is i liked him immediately. He seemed like a dedicated, wholesome, well put together type of guy. I also liked Maree and had mad respect that she was trying her best to give Lila the best possible childhood she could. BUT, when Carson came back into her life, she let her past rule over her present. I kept shaking my head and having a conversation with her like she was here in my home. Lol. I was like gurrrrrl what are you doing? Stop blocking your blessing! Chile, Maree had me on a rollercoaster of feelings. I was team Carson all the way! People can't fix a problem if they don't know that there is a problem. And reading about Lila and her feelings had me in a chokehold. This book was not what I expected, and I love that. Carson and Maree's HEA took me on a journey that shook me up but left me with a great feeling of yes! That's what I was hoping the outcome would be. And little Lila was soooo adorable!! She stole the whole book!! This is the first book I've read by Janae Jones. But by no means will it be the last.

UN unrealistic unbelievable unlikely

Maree put her needs & Fears above all, especially her child. So unrealistic for Carson to have no anger or resentment about missing 6 years of his child's life

Sometimes fate has other plans than we make for ourselves. Thoroughly enjoyed Carson and Maree finding their way back to each other. It wasn't clean, and quick ... they had personal issues - past and present to figure out for all the pieces fell into place for their HEA.

I'm glad I took a chance on this author; I first read the ARC for "The Black Wife Blessing" and really enjoyed it. As soon as I followed the author, I was notified she had other ARCs available, I found myself diving head first into this second chance... one that got away... secret baby IMMEDIATELY upon downloading it. Worth a fun read. Looking forward to more of Tyla's work.

Play Me Like Your Favorite Song is a quick yet enjoyable second chance romance. Carson and Maree were collage sweethearts for eight weeks of bliss, then with Carson on the brink of signing with the NFL, Maree disappears from Carson's life. Carson never forgot Maree and always wondered why she left him. Seven years later, and Marlee is face to face with Carson, and the attraction is still there, but Carson wants to know why she left. Fear is a powerful motivator, propeling Marlee to take drastic lengths to keep Carson from finding out her secret, while fighting their undeniable attraction.

It’sok

Very repetitious in some of the dialogue. Also, when Carson came to visit her in the office, she told Sandra thar they didn’t have any appointments. However, when Carson dropped the bombshell that he got an offer, she suddenly had an appointment. Then when it went to the scene where she was working with the patient, initially the patient’s name was Samantha, then it was Jenny. How do these mistakes not get caught in editing. I offer up my services for future books.

Maree has made life changing decisions based on the actions of others in her past. But these decisions effect the future of not only herself. Carson is back in her life professionally and he wants answers. New decisions need to be made for the future of all involved. Good sports read.

Play Me

The story was okay, I found myself skipping through a lot of it because it seemed slow. I was really irritated with Maree and her “what if” fear almost through the whole story. I was so tired of her and that tired excuse of not telling Carson about his kid and especially not coming out and explaining to her child that she does have a daddy.

love on the field

Beautiful story that was beautifully written. Life lessons that were taught were great reminders that we are humans but it’s what we do after the mistakes made. Also realizing what is truly important in life. Bravo!!!! Awesome story.

Really Good Story

I really enjoyed this story. It did take a bit too long to get to the big reveal, and I wasn’t too thrilled with how the MMC just forgave the FMC so quickly. I think there should’ve been more anger there. Overall I like the story and would recommend it.

Not a Fan

This book was just okay to me. Carson and Maree were tighter in college briefly, but it seems as though it meant more to an arson than it did to Maree. Maree seemed to have a lot of baggage that she never dealt with and Carson paid the price of her past relationships including her father. I thought Maree would have matured some and realized how she was hiring her daughter because her reasonings were really selfish. Carson didn’t seem as if he was a big NFL quarterback who had won the superbowl, but more like a rookie who was still trying to prove himself. Lila was a sweet little girl who acted her age and was happy to finally meet her father. I just didn’t care for Maree and that made it hard for me to like she and Carson’s story.
