The School House Books (AP) Advanced Placement Reader is a comprehensive, thought-provoking assortment of passages from works of literary merit as suggested by high school teachers across the United States. As many as sixty works of literary merit have been selected from a wide variety of authors. Their chosen passages are short enough to be examined closely, but long enough to be understood fully. Each excerpt ends with two specifically written essay one typical of the English Advanced Placement Literature and Composition Examination and one typical of the English Advanced Placement Language and Composition Examination. A unique plan for teaching students to grade each other's papers decreases teacher work and increases studentb learning. The unique layout of this textbook also includes separate chapters devoted to the Essay Focus and Rhetorical and Stylistic Devices, with specific articles and exercises submitted to School House Books by presently practicing teachers from across the United States. Finally, four full-length, multiple-choice examinations provide the type of "perfect practice" needed to improve the close reading skills necessary for success on this very difficult aspect of all English Advanced Placement Examinations.
