One of the best contemporary love inspired books I’ve read. I stopped reading love inspired after they got rid of historicals however I love that Gouge decided to write about descendants of characters in her other books. Sam is a strong main character, such an amazing guy. Wish he was real! He’s had a past though and now he has a second chance. This book was full of so much family drama. It was a lot for me to handle and I kept thinking of students I have. Juliet was surprisingly not so relatable. I think because she was keeping a secret and lying to Sam for most of the book I was just super annoyed with her-but I get it there’d be no story without that. I do love how Jeff pointed out how birdbrained Sam was for not realizing the secret. There were a lot of good spiritual moments and the message was clear. I don’t always get that in books these days but I felt uplifted by the end. I even felt hopeful for some people in my own life that I pray for. Maybe someone who has been in Juliet’s position will find the book relatable and find some healing in it.
I bought this book on Harlequin, and while it was much more preachy than most Love Inspired books, I still enjoyed the story, due to the unique and interesting plotline.
