Jade, a twenty-five year old woman living in Montreal, is frustrated with her mediocre job and heterosexual love life. She needs a change. Enter Rachel, a dynamic power lesbian who introduces Jade to the world of drugs, luxury and gay sex.
When their relationship ends in chaos, Jade flees Montreal to live in San Francisco. In her emotional state, Jade’s road trip across the USA includes a series of intimate encounters and spiritual awakenings. As Jade builds a life in her new city, she falls in love with a 'type-A' plastic surgeon, Dr. Mae Wong.
This lesbian erotica novel is a story of wild exploration and heart-breaking loss. A story of soul searching across Montreal, Mexico, California and Hawaii. This is the story of Jade Wallace.
Was very upbeat and curious at the beginning. It just kinda got muddled in control and not sure where the story was suppose to go. The ending was a disappointment in that it probably would have been better if the scene was a "one night stand." The doctor's ending character was a disappointment.
Overall, it proved to be TOO LONG and TOO DISAPPOINTING to read again.
Jade Wallace This is a very young novel. The writing style is far too simple for my taste and in my opinion the characters act in ways foreign to many readers over 21. Having said this, I was not aware of any spelling or grammar problems and the book has been very professionally put together. The reason I cannot rate it more highly is that it lacks emotional depth. There is plenty of plot here and towards the end it really picks up and engages the reader but not for erotic lesbian, erotic straight or any sort of romance reason. It is basically a good story. At the beginning there was so much about hard drugs that I nearly put the book down there and then but I persevered as I hate to give up on a book. Drugs are an important theme from the word go and are obviously essential to the plot but they do seem to have been given much more importance than the erotic element. One example is the “magic mushrooms in the forest scene”. This is hardly essential to plot or character development although the drugs do seem to help her enjoy “coming out” with two total strangers. This is a potentially very dangerous scenario for any young woman though. Hooking up with a couple of hikers in the forest and consuming mind altering substances can be a very effective way to get a non-speaking part in a reality CSI show. However, if this is a lesbian erotic novel, the campers are transients in the story and detract from it. What is more, Jade does not even need the crutch of drugs to be herself. She is supremely confident and appears to have no difficulty coming out with anyone at all. She does not agonize about her sexuality. One day she is straight and the next she wonders what it would be like to be a lesbian and sets about finding willing partners in the venture. She is at all times forthright. Again, having an opioid in hospital sends her off on yet another trip (which the writer seems to enjoy more than the sex) but it does have the useful side effect of letting her doctor know that Jade thinks she is hot. This made me think again about the book’s classification and I think the genre is totally wrong. To me, this is not an erotic lesbian novel, but a self-discovery novel with a bisexual protagonist and I would not classify Jade Wallace as a romance either. Throughout, intimate scenes are explicit rather than romantic. There is too little about emotions and there is no build up to the action. It also does not read like erotica, the sex scenes are short and factual, more descriptive of the room than the moment, over far too soon and not steamy enough. This applies to both gay and straight scenes. It just isn’t sexy writing. It is as though the writer knew that sex scenes had to be there but this wasn’t what she was really about and she has invested very little emotion in them. If Jade Wallace is not about steamy sex or romance then it should be reclassified as a “coming of age” novel and carry a trigger warning for drug use and explicit scenes. On the whole, I thought it was a good first effort from a writer who needs to find her emotional voice and this will come in time but if the intention is to write erotica, she needs to read a lot more in the genre and get the balance right.
The author has potential, but this book is a bust.
I think this author has potential, but I was thoroughly unimpressed with this book. Firstly, this was not an erotic novel. Secondly, I have no real idea what the plot line really was. The story jumped around so much that I was never really sure what was going on. It was impossible to connect with the characters because the creation of them and their connections to each other seemed so forced and without depth. It feels like the author had no emotion actually invested in this book, like it was more a matter getting words down and making it seem like a story. I know self publishing can be effective and can save authors a lot of money, but having a good editor is still key to creating a readable piece of writing. I'm very glad I got this for free, otherwise I would have definitely wanted my money back. It is not my intention to be mean or harsh in my review, only honest. When reading a good book, a reader should be able to immerse themselves in the story, feel as if they're a part of it all. They should be able to connect with the characters and feel invested in how their stories play out. If that doesn't happen, then it just feels like wasted time. That being said, I hope this author puts her real heart into her next attempt and also gets an editor to help guide her through the process.
Unlike some erotica novels, Jade Wallace has a really enjoyable, clear and unique plot which keeps you engaged as a reader For me, it had just about the right balance of erotica and romance.
I found myself enjoying reading about Jade as a person and how she develops and changes throughout the story; she is a well developed character who has been written extremely well, and who I found myself warming to more and more as the story went on. Well written, fun character and sexy in all the right places.
I would definitely recommend this lesbian erotica book; I was really impressed by it.
I enjoyed the general storyline of this book. However, the editing was simply atrocious at times. Misspelled words, repetitive words, sections of writing that seemed as if the editor skipped over entirely. There were paragraphs here and there where you could understand the general gist of what the author intended, but due to poor editing, you had to kind of fumble through a couple times to be sure of what you were reading.
This book is so not good at all. Full of cliches to the top, all over the place and the scarce "erotic" element is so predictable that it's almost annoying. Don't waste your time.
