29 books3 followersBorn in Aberystwyth in 1964, Lleucu Roberts was brought up in nearby Bow Street, and now lives in Rhostryfan in Gwynedd. She was educated in Ysgol Gynradd Rhydypennau, Ysgol Gyfun Penweddig and Aberystwyth University.
She has written children's books, television scripts, and stories and novels for adults. In 2014 she won both major prose prizes, the Medal and the Daniel Owen, at the National Eisteddfod in Llanelli.
She is married to the poet Arwel "Pod" Roberts, and has four children.

Hanes Eifion, perchennog garej, sydd mewn lle tywyll gyda'r banc ar fin cymryd ei dy a'i fusnes a'i briodas ar ben (efallai). Mae'r nofel yn dechrau gydag ef yn ceisio ddianc trwy neidio oddi ar Bont Borth. Mae dieithryn, Dewi, yn ymddangos ac yn siarad ag ef, a rhwystro ei fwriad. Trwy'r dyddiau nesaf mae'n mynd dros bopeth sydd wedi digwydd iddo ers ei blentyndod. Yn ail fab, roedd e'n teimlo taw ei frawd oedd ffefryn ei rieni, ac yn cofio sawl peth annheg (yn cynnwys garej a chafodd ei frawd, tegan hynny yw - sydd yn fath o ddelwedd o'r garej go iawn y mae Eifion ar fin colli heddiw). Erbyn diwedd y stori mae'n dysgu ddod dros ei genfigen at ei frawd, ac yr ydym ni'n clywed ochr arall y stori - sut yr oedd ei frawd yn teimlo, beth oedd teimladau ei rieni, eu fersiwn nhw o'i hanes, profiad ei wraig ac ati. Fel cylch, mae Dewi yn ail-ymddangos ar bont (Pont Britannia y tro yma) - ond amhosib ymhelaethu heb ddatgelu gormod!
Wedi mwynhau'r stori, sy'n crynhoi persbectif bywyd rhywun ar adeg tyngedfennol (ac yn dangos sut y mae pobl yn gallu camddeall, weithiau am oes, beth sy'n mynd ymlaen mewn pennau pobl eraill!)
The story of Eifion, garage owner who is in a dark place, with the bank about to foreclose and take his house and business, and his marriage, perhaps, over. The novel begins with him trying to escape by throwing himself off the Menai Bridge. A stranger, Dewi, appears, talks to him and frustrates his intention. Through the next few days he goes over everything that has happened to him since childhood. A second son, he had felt that his brother was his parents' favourite, and remembers various injustices (including a garage which his brother had, that is a toy one - which becomes a symbol of the real one which Eifion is about to lose). By the end of the story he learns to overcome his jealousy of his brother, and we hear other sides to the story - how his brother felt, what his parents' feelings were, their version of his history, the experience of his wife, and so on. In a circular structure, Dewi reappears on a bridge (Britannia Bridge this time) - but it's impossible to expand on this without giving too much away!
Enjoyed the story, which condenses the life perspective of someone at a fateful moment (and shows how we can misinterpret - sometimes for a lifetime - what is going on in other people's minds!)
