Compelling stories from beginning to end ~ Freligh is a master of brevity, humor, and heart. The characters are so REAL and pulsing with life and grit.

I’m a big fan of Sarah Freligh’s work so it’s no surprise I loved Other Emergencies. Her flash is always sharp and her short stories ruminate on all the right points. She encompasses so many worlds with her brevity. Highly recommend for fans of flash and short fiction!

In prose sharp and gorgeous, Sarah Freligh portrays the emergencies of our lives--both life-altering and everyday. A divorced veteran and his aging father roll a joint and reminisce on family during The Price Is Right, and a high school student who witnesses a mass shooting supposes about heaven with a detective. In all of the stories of Other Emergencies, the moments of our lives become holy.
