Part Three of The Ransom Series:

My family has suffered and sacrificed for me my entire life.

It's time for me to give back to them.

Over twenty years have passed since the events that both created and almost destroyed my family. We've been in hiding, secluded from the world for all these years, but that's about to change.

It's time to emerge and bring the rest of my family back to us after being separated for so long. It’s time for me to step beyond what’s safe to find something worth living for.

Or someone.

The danger we face is worth it. We'll risk everything to be together, because it's impossible to resist the power of family and love.

I tried. I honestly really tried. I tried to give this book a chance. A real and fair chance. I just couldn't. I'm going to be honest even further and tell you that I skimmed through this sucker like crazy. Why? Because nothing, and I mean nothing, about it grabbed my attention long enough for me to actually pay attention. I get it. I'm just not buying it and therefore I couldn't even believe in the unbelievable, because it was too unbelievable.

I’m calling BS

I have huge problems with this series. I am certainly no expert on the law but I guarantee that NOTHING that happened in any of these 3 books would or could actually occur.

In my previous critiques, I argued that Morgan was a victim. I think legally Leo is too since he was forced to commit crimes. Mark was the bad guy. Leo and Morgan acted under duress. Mark brutalized and raped Morgan. What court of law would convict her? Then to convict Cindy and Robert and incarcerate them for 20 years? On what grounds?? The crappiest public defender could have gotten them off. Please. COME ON!!!

Then there’s wide eyed Dante. What did he do? Why was he on the run? Seriously. What crime did he commit? Ok so we don’t want to lead the cops to Morgan and Leo but why can’t he lead a satisfying life? When exactly would he get to start “living?” What a horrible existence he had for the first 21 years of his life.

Lastly, I can’t get behind the fast forward. I have an almost 21yo. He was born in 1997. I’m reading this book in 2018. I don’t think I have to remind the readers that there was no such thing as social media and viral pictures in 1997. Or is this book set in the future?? Hmmmmm...

Ms Douglas, I’m calling BS on books 2 and 3. You write beautifully. I was pretty entertained. (Book 3 lagged for the first half.) But there is no way most of this could actually happen.
