Based on actual heroes who gave their lives in order to fight the dark evil that Hitler's Nazism represented, "The C ENIGMA" explores the premise that each and every one of us has the personal responsibility to fight for freedom, justice, and the forces of good. An individual's actions can have a drastic impact on the outcome of any battle, war, or campaign.
But the story begins quietly, intimately, with a man's rifling through hidden treasures in his grandfather's attic. Anthropology professor Matthias Adkins discovers a picture of Nazi Germany's lead secret service agent, and along with it a series of riddles. Armed with these few clues, Matthias sets out on a hunt through time to find out who his family really is. And in the process, he may find it's also a journey of self-discovery that reveals a destiny previously beyond his comprehension.
This page-turner bridges decades and generations, and infiltrates secret organizations and evil cults, to weave a mysterious and compelling narrative that broadens one's perspective regarding history and personal duty.

Historical fiction at it's best. My favorite part of the book was about Wilhelm Canaris who was a German admiral who attempted to stop Adolf Hitler and the Nazi's, because he believed what they were doing was wrong. He showed courage in the face of evil. He was executed on April 9th, 1945 at the Flossenburg Concentration camp for treason, by Adolph Hitler and the Nazis. This book will reach into the deepest part of your heart, with a history of truth and a gut wrenching reality, that innocent people lost their lives, were tortured all because of the prejudices of a mad man and even today in our times, these prejudices still exist.
The Nazi imagery has made many victims, Spiros Gratsias is one of them. The C Enigma is a bad copy of The Da Vinci Code (which was already bad) in terms of secret societies and conspiracy, and I think it can easily win the world championship of rip-off of Internet in terms of information taken from Wikipedia and entered directly in the text. A work for smartass, no doubt about it, which allows to improve the number of pages without much effort. The characters are definitely not credible and the writing is boring to the limits of the bearable. In addition, the copy I have is full of mistakes in grammar and spelling. Unpresentable. Thank CreateSpace and Netgalley for giving me a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
The eternal battle between Good and Evil is manifested in this excellent book enriched with suspense, conspiracy and intriguing plot. Gratsias knows how to hook you with his fluent writing style, the well carved with detailed characteristics characters and makes you eager to initiate your research on this heroic but at the same time contradictory figure Canaris and investigate on his role during those war days. The plot keeps you alert and on the edge throughout the book, although in the beginning the historical facts will be appreciated better by someone who loves history, but later on the action is exponentially paced up to the end which is exceptional. This excellent read storyline shows that the borderline between historical facts and fiction and their mixing is very difficult to be distinguished.
I love books that are historical. I enjoyed this book because it takes readers back to that dark period of history and reminds us of the pain and torment that so many innocent men, women, and children experienced in the World War II era. The books is based off of actual historic figures which helps to give the story a rich, historic, and realistic feel. The way the book is written with the inclusion of the true events will draw readers in and keep them turning the pages to see what will happen next. I applaud this work and I look forward to future writings from this author. It’s truly an intriguing read!
