A man who never knew love. A woman determined to leave it behind. Falling for one another was the last thing they wanted.

Lainey Peterson only has time for three things --- her career, her two best friends, and her education. The last thing she needs is a relationship. Two years ago she let a man into her heart, and it nearly cost her everything.

Her promise to avoid men had been working, until a wardrobe disaster on a girls’ night out brings her face-to-face with a handsome, mysterious stranger.

She never thought she’d see him again…let alone at work…as her newest coworker.

When people see Dr. Ryan, they see a hotshot doctor with a playboy reputation. They don’t see the reasons behind the walls he’s built, the pain he keeps locked tight, or his determination to avoid falling in love.

As a friendship blossoms, Ryan and Lainey can’t deny their attraction… or the unrelenting desire to learn what led them to each other. But some secrets might be too heavy to share.

Can they overcome their inner demons and open up to one another, or will the weight of the past tear them apart?

Safe With You is a steamy, age gap, workplace romance between a stubborn, brooding doctor and the only woman who can bring him to his knees.

I thought I was HOOKED on this series after the first book, but now after finishing the second, I'm in LOVE with this series and rushing to listen to the third book! Laura Beth writes some of the swooniest MMCs that have ZERO issue groveling and claiming their women, but they're also so patient while they wait for the FMC to come to terms with the fact that they are endgame! This book was beautifully written. Covering sensitive topics with so much care. And getting to see past characters from the previous book was so much fun! Jenna is BLOSSOMING with Daddy Emmett's love! 😍

Lainey and Ryan's story was perfect. I love a good workplace romance. But this one was so much more. The way he encouraged her and helped her better her career was so swoony. Lainey was the sweetest FMC. She kept her girlfriends close but had zero interest in dating after everything she had been through in a previous relationship. But Ryan shows her that he can be the man she deserves and that she deserves to be showered with love and encouragement! They also give us the BEST public claiming scene when he claims her in front of everyone they're with! 🥵 I loved watching Lainey slowly let him in and bring her walls down for him!

As wonderful as everything was going, there is a third act breakup that unfortunately was unavoidable and handled swiftly and very well done!

Also. The spice in this book was SOOO GOOD! Ryan is very dominant in such a gentle, possessive way! 🥵

These two will steal your heart!

Single narration with dual POV
Narrated by Sara Brodt

I thought Sara did a wonderful job with the first book! But this one was even better! For a single narration, Sara blew me away! She did such an incredible job with both Ryan's and Lainey's POVs!! I absolutely loved it! Sara handled every emotion perfectly from each character's POV. But I'll be honest, her playing Ryan was my favorite part. She is definitely a narrator who can carry both roles! I was so impressed!

Seeing the couple from book one and then this couple together was adorable it was great to see. They are adorable together and have so many struggles to overcome and demons to face that they were meant to be. I laughed, I cried, I smiled, I blushed, and I am diving into the ARC for number 3, and I can't wait.

Two years ago, Lainey started her life over. Fleeing from an incredibly abusive relationship, she moved to a new city, took a job as a nurse, found her best friends. Now she’s settled but working herself to the bone to stave off her loneliness after swearing she’s not going to date (famous last words). When a new doc gets assigned to her floor, she’s surprised to see he’s the stranger she was enchanted by at the bar the other night but never got his name. As the two start working together, they develop a beautiful relationship built on respect and unwavering support of each other. This turns into a lot more but while he’s shared his most vulnerable parts with her, she’s been holding off on sharing her painful history. And it all comes crashing down mighty quickly in a series of challenging situations.

Liked
* Okay while I read the TWs I was not expecting this book to get as heavy as it did. It is hard to write about abuse in a delicate way and Laura Beth did that beautifully here.
* I loved their relationship. It was full of mutual respect, admiration, and support. They complemented each other so well. I like that the story took the time to build their friendship first. They were also both highly intelligent people and I respect when a book highlights that.
* The medical knowledge went deep in this book. It was like watching Grey’s Anatomy.

Disliked
* The last 20% of the book got really heavy and I could have used a little more runway to come down from that. Like a little more story would have helped.
* I got mad at Dr. Ryan for getting upset with her for not telling him about her history. She clearly was going to but he definitely handled that in the worst way possible.

🫡 Tropes deployed: workplace romance, complex family dynamics, history of abuse, all the trigger warnings

4.75⭐️ 2.5🌶️ Lainey + Dr. Ryan 🫶🏼

Y’all I devoured this second book in the Grace General series!
The first book was a slight intro into the medical world at Grace General with one of the characters working there, but this second book had both main characters working at the hospital and I absolutely LOVED the medical setting!

The characters felt perfectly developed, they’re so relatable, and I love how there is a perfect balance of serious topics that don’t get overly dark, but it’s also a refreshing tone that veers away from a typical rom com built around a lot of light hearted humor.

My only gripe that knocked off 0.25 stars was that the ending came so quickly! I thought there were still a few chapters left in the book but they were previews of book 3. The epilogue wrapped things up nicely but I loved these characters so much I wish we had a little more time to experience their HEA 🥲

I’m obsessed with Laura Beth and this series!!!

✨ARC REVIEW✨

4.5✨

Another beautifully written story by Laura Beth. You don't just get a romance book, you get an emotional, in depth story where your emotions are being tested and you just want to reach into the book to hug the characters.

Here, we are following Lainey Peterson and Dr. Ryan. Two people who have tried everything to move on from their pasts. Two people perfect for each other but two people who are scared to love.

Lainey is a wonderfully written character. Her story is a heartbreaking one. This girl has been through it and yet, she's a strong and brave force to be reckoned with.

Ryan is the brooding hot doctor that sees Lainey once and just knows she's exactly what he wants. He's charming and is an ass to everyone but her and I mean...if that doesn't make you swoon a little then I don't know.

These two together are adorable. I absolutely love how these two refused to give in to temptation but would flirt on a whole other level. There's nothing better than steamy tension. The sneaking of glances and meeting in rooms where someone could walk in. OOF I love it. Dr. Ryan said all the right things, let me tell you.

I absolutely loved the cameos from Jenna and Meg. They are a fun girl group and yes, I cannot wait for Meg's story...with Jim *giggles* Also Emmett coming through being a sweetheart and everything *heart eyes*

Laura Beth's writing is superb. There was a lot of medical talk in this and of course, I had no clue what I was reading BUT it sounded good. LOL. Besides that, her writing captivates you and has you turning the page, page after page. You want to learn about these characters and you want to see what happens next. You start to get attached to them and I love when a book can do that - it means the writing is GOOD.

Compared to book one, this was a little slower paced, for me. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Whereas book one felt more "drama filled", this was more tame in that sense.

Anyone who knows my reading preferences knows that I am a SUCKER for good book drama. I want my heart to sink and I want to get flushed when the characters fight. Where I didn't feel that here, I will not let that take away from the fact this was an amazing book. I can't fault a book based on my preferences of couples arguing *hides face* Now if a certain ex appeared and Ryan took matters into his own hands...I mean, I wouldn't have been mad BUT I DIGRESS.

With that said, we do get some ~drama~ at the end and yes, I was TOTALLY IN. My heart broke for Lainey in that moment. I was actually mad at Ryan for reacting the way he did...but everyone copes differently I guess *shrugs shoulders*

I do wish we got a bigger moment of them working out how he reacted since I didn't feel like we got closure on that BUT I AM OVERLOOKING IT BECAUSE OF THE LAST SCENE AFTER THE THING HAPPENED AND SHE BROKE DOWN. THAT MOMENT WAS EVERYTHING OKAY. Ugh, I just wanted to squeeze them in a tight embrace.

I loved this story. I loved these characters. I love these two bantering and being all cute and shit. I loved Jenna interacting with Ryan. I couldn't put the book down and once again, Laura Beth nailed another book.

If you want a brooding hot doc who can't stop staring at his nurse and gives a little tap tap whenever she rolls her eyes...you are welcome. Grey's Anatomy who? Welcome to Grace General.

Safe With You is phenomenal. I have not read book one in this series, so I went into this without knowledge of Grace General or the characters. Based on my experience, this book can be read as a standalone. This is my introduction to Laura Beth, and wow...just wow. I am now a fan!

This story follows the love story of Dr. Ryan and Nurse Lainey Peterson. Dr. Ryan is a bit grumpy and broody. Lainey is pure sunshine, super focused on her career, a survivor, and loved by everyone she works with. Ryan hasn't dated anyone in years, and Lainey doesn't have time for a relationship while working on her career. After first meeting in a bar, Ryan and Lainey are surprised to find out they work together at Grace General. They are pulled towards each other and feel an instant attraction.

I loved this story, and the characters are so relatable. Lainey is healing from abuse, while Ryan is dealing with the lasting effects of growing up in a toxic household. Despite their personal challenges, they had amazing chemistry. Ryan and Lainey were precisely what each other needed and truly healed each other.

This book has so much depth, and I am forever changed. The story is well written, and Laura Beth handled complex and sometimes triggering topics perfectly. Safe With You is a beautiful story with the perfect balance of romance, overcoming past trauma, drama, friendship, tension, humor, healing, and heartbreak. This was an emotional roller coaster I would gladly ride again. I look forward to reading more from Laura Beth.

Thank you, Laura Beth and Greys Promo, for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for my honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Oh wow, this book! 🥹

This storyline has a level of depth to it that I honestly appreciate. Lainey's story is one that I think many women, and men, can relate to. I also found Ryan's story and his history very much relatable too as a child who was brought up in a toxic household. While this subject matter can be triggering for some Laura really did such an amazing job writing this story and handled it with care. To anyone who has ever been in an abusive relationship or been a part of a toxic family dynamic, know you are not alone.

This book was such a cute workplace romance and I really thought the level of spice was perfect for this book! 🥵 There were some delicious workplace romance scenes! *chefs kiss*

“𝐻𝑒 𝓀𝒾𝓈𝓈𝑒𝓈 𝓂𝑒 𝓁𝒶𝓃𝑔𝓊𝒾𝒹𝓁𝓎, 𝒶𝓈 𝒾𝒻 𝓂𝓎 𝓁𝒾𝓅𝓈 𝒶𝓇𝑒 𝒶 𝒻𝒾𝓃𝑒 𝓌𝒾𝓃𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝒽𝑒’𝓈 𝓈𝒶𝓋𝑜𝓇𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒻𝒾𝓇𝓈𝓉 𝓈𝒾𝓅. 𝐼 𝓁𝑒𝓉 𝓂𝓎𝓈𝑒𝓁𝒻 𝓈𝒾𝓃𝓀 𝒾𝓃𝓉𝑜 𝒽𝒾𝓂, 𝑒𝓃𝑔𝓇𝒶𝓋𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒻𝑒𝑒𝓁𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝑜𝒻 𝒽𝒾𝓈 𝒷𝑜𝒹𝓎 𝓅𝓇𝑒𝓈𝓈𝑒𝒹 𝒶𝑔𝒶𝒾𝓃𝓈𝓉 𝓂𝒾𝓃𝑒, 𝓁𝑒𝓉𝓉𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒽𝒾𝓂 𝓌𝒶𝓀𝑒 𝓊𝓅 𝒶 𝓅𝒶𝓇𝓉 𝑜𝒻 𝓂𝑒 𝐼 𝓉𝒽𝑜𝓊𝑔𝒽𝓉 𝒹𝒾𝑒𝒹 𝓁𝑜𝓃𝑔 𝒶𝑔𝑜.”

I really appreciated the depth of the trauma both our MCs experienced and their individual healing journeys. Lainey and Ryan were each other's rocks and helped each other grow so much! I enjoyed Lainey and Ryan’s chemistry! I could feel their instant attraction from the start!

I think this storyline is one that many people can relate to as well, setting aside the topic of abuse. We all are searching for that safe space to feel welcomed, loved, appreciated and valued. It's a great reminder that our past does not define who we are and it doesn't have to define our future. Laura did a wonderful job with this message.

“𝐻𝒾𝓈 𝓌𝑜𝓇𝒹𝓈 𝒶𝓇𝑒 𝒶 𝒷𝓊𝑜𝓎, 𝓅𝓊𝓁𝓁𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓂𝑒 𝒾𝓃 𝓌𝒽𝑒𝓃 𝒶𝓁𝓁 𝐼’𝓋𝑒 𝒷𝑒𝑒𝓃 𝒹𝑜𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒾𝓈 𝒹𝓇𝑜𝓌𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔.”

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book! If you're looking for a delicious workplace romance that takes place between a doctor and a nurse where he falls first, I highly recommend you pick up this book or add it to your TBR list. 👏🏻

“See that’s the thing, firecracker. It’s hard to remember what life was like before I met you.”

After the epilogue of It Was Always You, I was so curious about Lainey’s story, and it immediately pulled me in. Lainey and Ryan had my full attention from the start. The tension between these two was incredible. Their banter and flirting were so well done! Watching their friendship blossom felt so natural, it made their connection even more believable.

And just like It Was Always You, this book put me through a rollercoaster of emotions. I loved Dr. Ryan from the very start, how gentle and patient he was with Lainey, always respecting her boundaries even without knowing the full extent of her trauma. Seriously, Laura Beth writes the best book boyfriends!

Both of them carry traumas that shaped who they are and how they navigate life, and it was beautiful to see them bond over that, acknowledging how those experiences shaped their coping mechanisms. And They communicate (well, mostly)! It’s so refreshing.

The ending was so intense, so much happened! From the reveal of Lainey’s past, to their fight, and then the attack… my heart was in my mouth. My eyes were glued to my Kindle; I just couldn’t stop reading. So so good!

Onto Meg's book!

Guys. The JOY I have when I find a new author I just inhale. The bad side is I HAVE TO WAIT FOR MORE! I went into this one thinking how am I going to love book 2 more then 1....well, Laura said Hold my Beer and gave us Dr. Ryan. I will be honest and say it took a hot second to be invested, but once the tension snapped and he fell...I was in it. He fell HARD and my goodness I adored this one.

“𝑳𝒆𝒕 𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒃𝒂𝒃𝒚. 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒎𝒚 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅, 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒎𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝑰’𝒍𝒍 𝒍𝒆𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒎𝒚 𝒄𝒐𝒄𝒌.”

Lainey is a nurse at Grace General and Ryan moved to the day shift after years of working nights. On his first day he meets his new nurses and finds out that Lainey is the woman he met at the bar who fell off the bull and flashed the bar in doing so 😆 These two are both broken and strong and have zero desire to be in relationships....we all know how that goes 🫠 The way these two fell just UGH I loved them so so much. I HIGHLY recommend this series.

I love reading the Doctor's romances and this is why I loved this book so much.

Lainey and Ryan first met when she was at a bar for a girls' night. Even though they didn't have the chance to speak properly after that night, none of them could stop thinking about each other. Imagine their surprise when they found out they were working at the same hospital...

What I loved in particular in their story was that they actually became friends before lovers, and they took the time to get to know each other. The sparks were flying every time they met at work, but none of them succumbed to the obvious lust. In the meantime, they had their own insecurities to deal with, but speaking to each other made this easier. Then, bit by bit, they started trusting each other, to the point that they couldn't take it anymore...and the love finally happened.

When they got together...it was just the perfect time. The chemistry between them, the heat, the passion was so damn good. Their spicy scenes...scorching hot and filled with enough smut that made my heart sing. The feelings were there, and they couldn't be ignored anymore. The love was real and forever...

Overall, I loved reading Lainey and Ryan's story.

ARC Review: Safe With You by Laura Beth

This one totally gives greys anatomy type vibes, except it’s nurse and dr. This is a classic grumpy sunshine, and I love that the sunshine FMC also had a hard past. Lainey- She’s a survivor of an abusive relationship, yet she’s so strong and just full of smiles. I enjoyed both characters here. Our grump was Ryan, a cranky night shift doctor who switches to day shift. Watching their walls slowly crumble is always one of my favorite parts. He’s the “I can’t sleep except when I’m with you” kinda guy, and I love that microtrope. He also has some brokenness to him from his childhood. This story is so sweet and just something to cherish. I love that Ryan was willing to wait as long as he needed to for Lainey and prove to her that he was worthy of taking a chance on. And his protective demeanor really just made ya girl’s heart swoon. When her past comes out (in the worst way), it absolutely shattered my heart. I just could feel her struggle, embarrassment, and heartache she was feeling during those moments. This is a must read. I’m reallyyyy interested in the next installment of this series too 👀

For anyone who has ever been in any type of abusive relationship; know you are not alone. 🫶🏼 As someone who has been through this personally, I know how important it is to have someone to talk to. How important it is to be heard and validated in every single one of your emotions.

This book was such a cute romance. I loved that both the main characters had some sort of trauma they had to work through and were seeing how it was cutting them off from really living their lives. Being vulnerable in life is never easy, and I love that they were both such safe places for one another as they worked through things and opened up to one another.

I’m always a sucker for a man who makes her his exception and this book delivered. 🤌🏼

This was so good!! There was ONE primary reason I rated this 4 stars instead of 5 and if you read it then you probably know exactly why(Ryan's reaction to a certain situation).

I literally had a huge smile on my face while reading the majority of this book. There was a perfect amount of spice and drama that it kept me interested the entire time.

4.5⭐️ rounding up.

I loved Lainey and Ryan’s story. And seeing Lainey’s growth and strength compared to the first book was amazing. It is written in such an inspiring way!
Ryan puts on a grumpy front. But he is actually a teddy bear. He is so sweet and with Lainey.
It’s a journey of accepting your past, and not letting it run your future.

I'm so happy I found this book! Dr Ryan & Nurse Lainey were such a beautiful couple 🫶

I loved how this story was written with Lainey recovering from past abuse to Ryan finally allowing himself to love and care for someone ❤️

It was a perfect Grumpy X Sunshine romanace with Ryan listening to everything only Lainey said when she had views on treatments to him standing up for her when staff took her for granted! 🥰

The friendships within this book were hilarious and honestly hope more books are written within this series! 🩺

*Received ARC for honest review

This was absolutely just everything. EVERYTHING I tell you. I knew we were going to get a heck of a story from Lainey but I was not prepared for this. Also, why is it that Jenna is just so freaken hilarious? Haha. This seriously made me love her that much more. Like seriously. She is such a force to be reckon with. The moment she popped up on page had me laughing. All the Jenna we got from Lainey’s story was seriously what I needed. It was just perfect. I might just go back and re-read their story. 😄

Now on to Lainey😁. Her past is something she is healing from so when Dr. Ryan comes to town, it’s hard to turn away from someone who just seems oh-so-spectacular. Haha. I love their first encounter. It was something light, hilarious, and something I felt that was so out of Lainey's comfort zone but that's what made it all the better. As the new doctor at Grace General, Dr. Ryan is bound to be working in close proximity with Lainey and this of course leads to some rather fantastic love story. I won’t lie, it’s not over-the-top but IT. IS. ENOUGH. I love the normalcy of everything in the novel. Being at the hospital, taking care of patients, being exhausted, etc. I think it makes the romance somewhat even more so special because it makes it feel real. While I do love billionaire alphas and some outrageous marriage contract, there’s some appeal to “normal” romance that somehow manages to hit all the feels differently because who knows, it COULD actually happen to you. Haha. And this book hit so differently too compared to the first. The first one was heartbreaking in the way that you just want to be able to rewind time for Jenna and Emmett to save them both from all the hurt they went through. Lainey's story breaks me in the kind of way that makes you feel helpless because you know there was no other way. Her story paints all the real pain that people go through and that hits you in a deep way where you just kind of have to sit and let it sink in. Her past, the death of patients, and especially when she talked about that 11 year old girl. It just breaks my heart and I that's what makes a great novel - when you can make your reader really feel all those emotions and turmoil right along with the character. And this is why Dr. Ryan is so freaken awesome too because he just knows when Lainey needs a shoulder to lean on. He's so in tuned with her and it's all sorts of wonderful because Lainey also deserves everything. It looks like she needed saving from her past but really, she was the strong one and saved everyone else.

Disclaimer: I received this book at no cost from the publisher/author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. I am leaving a voluntary review and all opinions are my own.

Buckle up for an age-gap romance between a doctor and a nurse that really sizzles! This was a well-rounded story that really delivered.

Laura Beth had me hanging on her every word. I was so engrossed in this story. The author's writing style was relatable and really drew me in. The plot was compelling and entertaining. The world-building was very atmospheric. I don't read many stories in a medical setting but I was captivated by how immersive the world was. I loved how the author handled the sensitive topics in this story gracefully and honestly.

I adored these characters and their journeys. Both main characters have trauma in their pasts and the character development was very strong. The characters were complex and distinct. I connected with the characters easily.

These two were so flirty and had excellent banter. There was so much sexual tension and just the right amount of spice. I loved how Ryan and Lainey found a safe space with one another and became each other's rock. They had undeniable chemistry. Plus, I love the "he falls first" trope.

Overall, this was an emotional workplace romance story that really packed a punch. If you are a fan of Grey's Anatomy, this book will be right up your alley. This book has characters with lots of depth, a plot that will keep you engaged, and fantastic storytelling. I can't wait for the next release from this author!

"Safe With You" is a captivating and steamy workplace romance that delves into the complexities of love, trust, and overcoming past traumas. The story follows Lainey Peterson, a focused and determined woman who has sworn off relationships after a heartbreak that nearly destroyed her. She is dedicated to her career, her two best friends, and her education, and the last thing she wants is to fall for someone again.

Dr. Ryan is perceived as a hotshot doctor with a playboy reputation, but beneath his charming exterior lies a man with walls built high to protect himself from getting hurt. Despite his determination to avoid love, fate brings him face to face with Lainey once again, this time as her newest coworker. As they navigate their blossoming friendship, they both feel a strong attraction that they can't ignore, leading them to question the reasons behind their unexpected connection.

The chemistry between Ryan and Lainey is palpable, and as they explore their feelings for each other, they are forced to confront their inner demons and past traumas. The author does a fantastic job of portraying the emotional depth of the characters and the challenges they face in opening up to each other. The age gap adds an intriguing dynamic to their relationship, adding a layer of complexity and tension that keeps readers engaged.

Safe With You by Laura Beth

Grace General Series Book 2

Welcome to Chicago

Where the hot doc saves you 💗

💜Workplace Romance
✨️Age gap
💜Nurse x Doctor
✨️Grumpy x Sunshine
💜He falls first
✨️Greys anatomy vibes

We start off this beautiful story with Lainey, moving away from her family and everything she knows. Wanting to start a new life and hopefully become an NP, but her secrets keep her from letting anyone close to her. Lainey, thankfully, has two best friends, Jenna and Meg, who always have her back, but she's conditioned to keep smiling even when she's breaking down inside.

One night, her besties dragged her out for girls' night at Lassos, a country bar, and they decided to ride the mechanical bull after two many tequila shots. And Lainey is wearing a bodycon dress while doing this, big mistake. Before she flashes the whole bar, Ryan steps in and saves her of some embarrassment.

Ryan, a so-called playboy or a former playboy, doesn't want anyone to get close enough to leave him like he always is. He brings Lainey up, helps her gain confidence, and stands up for herself. While they dont wanna cross that line from lust to love but they each crave it deep down.

Will they break down each others walls or keep one another out?

This was my first book by Laura, and I'm so happy I decided to sign up for this arc. It's such a beautiful story of letting the past go and moving on. For anyone that's been through abuse in any capacity, im sorry, and you are not alone. I can relate to Laineys story and hope that one day, I find someone to love her the way Ryan loves Lainey. Unconditional and without judgment.

📕Book Review📕 (mild context spoilers)

🩺🥼🩺This is the second book in a series and is a standalone age-gap workplace romance (I plan to read the first!). It’s a heavier read because it touches on some more challenging topics like domestic violence, grief in the medical field, childhood exposure to violence and physical assault (within the story).

🩺🥼🩺The story of Lainey (a healing and guarded survivor of domestic violence) and Dr. Ryan (a perpetual bachelor by choice) is worth all that it takes to get to the HEA. The meet cute is adorable and involves a mechanical bull mishap, the second meeting has all the charm of Grey’s Anatomy-like awkwardness when you run into that same guy at work and the sweetness of Dr. Ross and Nurse Hathaway from ER (dating myself there). The build up, banter, tension and pursuit by Dr. Ryan is super enjoyable. Lainey is relatable, adorable and just a kind and wonderful person and Dr. Ryan is equal parts kind and gentle and rough and dirty-talking (swoooooon). The dictation room. The late night knock on the door and magnetic pull between them. The nickname firecracker 🧨 The references to The Office.

🖐🏻Therapist take: I really enjoyed the way this author portrayed how the experiences of both people in a relationship impact everything from communication to trust to intimacy. Trigger warnings have already been mentioned but are worth noting, however, this story really advocates for the strength and resiliency of survivors and the ability to see the person and not define them by what they have done or what has happened to them and I’m all for letting people tell us and show us who they are. I always appreciate a gentle reminder that the rules we make for our hearts can sometimes be broken ❤️

Laura Beth is new to me. This book was written with so much knowledge and care it was perfect.
I was instantly connected emotionally with both Lainey and Ryan.
Ryan has lasting affect of growing up in a toxic household and lack of love from parent.
Lainey has sworn off love as the last man almost cost her life 💔. Her experience is heartbreaking and so real. Please read with care and check trigger warnings. Lainey is so strong to rebuild and keep going.
They first connect at a night out, where she flashes everyone with her backside haha. Things happen so quickly they don't get to get names or number. Both regretting missed chance.
Until the next day at work.
They both working at Grace General, he is the new Dr and she is the nurse in that department. Their chemistry is so strong and instant. He can't believe his luck and he is willing to get to know her. But Lainey is wary and isn't interested in a relationship. Nor is Ryan but he can't stop his feelings or actions. I love how he slowly breaks her walls down. It's an emotional journey for both of them and I've lived watching them 'Bloom'.
Great hospital drama, emotional drama, found family, great friends, spice and finally love.
Really enjoyed this book, felt like a true drama show. Can't wait for Meg's story.

𝙎𝙖𝙛𝙚 𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙔𝙤𝙪 (𝘼𝙍𝘾 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬) // 𝙇𝙖𝙪𝙧𝙖 𝘽𝙚𝙩𝙝

Dr. Ryan has me in a chokehold and I'm not sure I'll ever recover...

🩺 Doctor/nurse
☕ He falls first
🩺 Age gap
☕ Workplace romance
🩺 MMC leaving his playboy tendencies behind
☕ Tortured pasts
🩺 ALL the Grey's Anatomy vibes

I'm not exaggerating when I say this series will give you all components you love about Grey's Anatomy! The spice, the tension, the drama, oh yeah and the fun medical jargon!

Laura takes us on a journey pulling from her own personal experiences as a nurse, and wow did she execute it well. Safe With You is the perfect amount of spice and trauma mixed into a medical romance.

Dr. Ryan (let's not even try to pronounce his actual last name) just switched from nights to days at Grace General, where he coincidentally runs into the little firecracker he met at the bar the weekend prior.

Lainey, said firecracker is a nurse at the hospital, while juggling another part time job and going to school for her masters. Needless to say... She doesn't have time to take shit from anybody. But only when she finds herself crushing on the hot older doctor, does that threaten to change.

"𝘚𝘦𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘳. 𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘐 𝘮𝘦𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶."

Before you know it, there's a push and pull between Ryan and Lainey's attraction towards each other, and they're sneaking in little looks and touches at work. Ryan is absolutely done for. This man is gone for his little firecracker, can't even sleep without her and seeks out her voice when he's working on her floor. Honestly, this man doesn't only give Emmett (from book 1) a run for his money, but the KING Dr. Derek Shepherd.

I loved the medical aspect of this book so so much. In book one the hospital is a bit of a side character, but in SWY it's a full on main character. This book will make you laugh, cry, feel like you're in the halls of Grey Sloan, and most importantly - will leave a smile on your face. 🩷

Another novel from Laura Beth, another story I absolutely adored. I loved the first book in the Grace General series, but I think I might actually like this one more. As soon as I started reading, I noticed that Safe With You had a different feeling to it--where It Was Always You was a bit darker or more melancholy, in my opinion, Safe With You felt bright and hopeful, even if the characters dealt with some heavier topics and trauma.

I loved the characterizations for both Lainey and Ryan. They were well plotted, well explained, and I felt like their flaws and trauma complimented each other well. Lainey is a spitfire, and I appreciated how her past was woven into her voice and character. While her trauma doesn't define her current life, it does frame how she interacts with others; she's learning to use her voice and that her voice matters, something that Ryan supports wholeheartedly. I loved their relationship and their support of one another, even through harrowing circumstances. There is something beautiful in reading about a relationship that grows from the ashes of pain, and I truly saw that in Safe With You.

Laura Beth is one of my very favorite contemporary authors, and I'm so pleased to see her writing and stories grow and evolve. I can't wait for the next installment!

I honestly believe this is not just a love story, although romance is a big part of it. This is a story of survival, growth, and finding your worth no matter what your past looks like.

In this story we see how Lainey, a nurse that works too much to keep herself busy in order to not have too much time to think about her past, after two years of being single due to said past, starts falling for Ryan, the sexy new doctor in the day shift. Now, Ryan comes with his own baggage and has also not had a serious relationship with anyone in years.

I really enjoyed all the sneaking around and stolen moments the main characters had during the story. I also loved they way Lainey and Ryan help each other heal and bring out the best in each other, and I am a bit sad that we didn't get to see more of them as an official couple.

Although I wish Lainey had been the one to tell Ryan her story (hate Kelly, btw), overall Laura did an amazing job at making these characters relatable, and I love the way she incorporates side characters and makes them unforgettable (Jenna is a menace! Lol).

I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved Lainey and Ryan so much and I thought they were perfect for each other. I loved their first meeting each other and how he was able to "rescue" her. I love it so much when the author makes the FMC smart. Like Lainey is so smart, good at her job, and she is also so hardworking. I loved that Ryan was a little moody and more closed off with everyone besides Lainey.

This book does cover some heavier topics, while at the same time being a lighter read. I think its because those heavier topics aren't talked about in depth like they probably should have been. One thing that made me mad was how Ryan handled finding out about Lainey's past. He didn't know everything that happened and he just jumped to conclusions and took the worst part of Lainey's life and made it about himself. That's the reason I went down on my rating. Just how he handled the situation. I do wish we got to learn what really went down with her past, but I get that to keep this book lighter that wasn't necessary.

If you haven’t met author Laura Beth then you need to come up from your rock. Laura Beth first book It Was Always You broke me and I came back for more. Safe With You is book 2 in the Grace General Series and it PHENOMENAL. A great standalone, however if you read book 1 you remember nurse Lainey Paterson. This was a very emotional story about moving on from the past and fighting those past demons in order to move on. Lainey’s story is heart breaking and well written, Dr. Ryan is also a great character with his own flaws. When these two meet it’s the start of a very delicious story. The tension between these two and the excuses they both make to keep the distance is comical since they can’t stay away from one another.
Dr. Ryan keeps to himself except when Laney is around he is drawn to her and isn’t being scared off by the tough mouthy nurse. Love when the girl gang gets together Jenna and Meg are the best friends you want to have. I was both happy and sad but the emotion I didn’t expect to feel was full anger rage towards Dr. Ryan IYKYK. I worked in a hospital for many years and Laura Beth’s description of the environment and peoples interactions definitely brought back memories

Age gap romances can be hit or miss, however this wasn't too far of an age gap. It reminded me of Grey's Anatomy more Meredith and Derrick over Mark and Lexi (if you know).
I really enjoyed the story and the fact there was an actual plot with friends on both sides that help give a glimpse into each character.
Lainey has some serious baggage in her past that makes it hard for her to trust and keeps her from getting into a relationship. Ryan also has some baggage in the form of parents failing him that keeps his walls high and doesn't let others in. Even his sister has a hard time being close with him.
None of that matters when Dr Ryan comes off night shift and meets ever busy nurse Lainey. Immediate connection, but I like that the author didn't have them throw their baggage out just for the other. They took their time to get to know each other professionally and personally.
There was some spice that fit the story but wasn't so far over the top that it felt like the scenes were googled and repetitive. HEA without the ruin of most contemporary romances.
This is the second book in the series but I read it first and it doesn't seem like you need to read them in order.

I received an ARC of this book.

I absolutely LOVED reading Lainey’s story. I cried, laughed, and cheered for her as she found what she wanted in both a relationship and her career. Lainey and Dr. Ryan were both such complex, well-developed characters. This book went above just a simple romance story (the steamy romance was fun to read for sure though 🤤) and truly laid out what can be a sometimes difficult process in starting over, moving on, and being a strong woman in the face of adversity. I felt such a connection with Lainey.

I also liked getting to revisit Jenna and Emmett from Book #1 and reading about them from Lainey’s POV. Jenna, Lainey, and Meg are such a fun group of women. In addition, the ending didn’t feel rushed at all (I always appreciate a thought out ending that isn’t so short it leaves out parts of the resolution but isn’t so long I’m like “okay, let’s get somewhere”); the book was just so thought out from front to back. I can’t wait for Book #3. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading the General Grace series!!

4.5 rounded up. Review pending.

The title of this book sums up the story very well. Lainey having to part with her past of abuse (off page) and starting a new life in Chicago with her best friends at Grace General. She has established what she is capable of and in a point of schooling to decide the next step in her career.

Dr. Ryan changing shifts from night to day shift is now working alongside Lainey and her friends and known to be more of the 'grump'. During their shifts Lainey and Ryan start to hit it off with his willingness to help educate Lainey and test her knowledge of the medical field further helping her to decide what path she should take.

Both characters come from a tormented past living a surface romantic life, they each break one another's walls down slowly but surely finding themselves falling into a bubble of comfort and safety within one another.

I loved the evolution of growth and feelings in this book, it seemed natural as to how one could fall in love and feel a sense of security with someone else. Ryan provided support in decision making, praise where it needed to be, and Lainey provided stability and affection for Ryan.

When you are use to the dark are you able to be someone’s light? Ryan and Lainey definitely show that it is possible. They are able to take those cautious small steps towards each other all while shining brightly for the other. This is a beautiful story of hurt and healing. Laura Beth weaves true magic into her stories that leave you never wanting them to end.Though the end leaves you with all the beautiful warm fuzzy feelings. This story shows how abuse can leave long lasting effects but finding the right person can help that hesitant hope bloom and grow into a beautiful peace expelling the self doubt. I love how this relationship grows as the story moves along. They may have felt an instant connection but they gave each other the space and time they needed. The love, support, and care Ryan gives Lainey is absolute boyfriend goals. There are not enough words to say how much I love this story. It leaves a little light in your soul.
