This study follows the stylistic evolution of Bartolo di Fredi, who studied with Niccolo di Ser Sozzo, and was influenced by the giants of the early Martini, da Siena, and Pietro and Ambrogio Lorenzetti. Bartolo mined his rich Sienese artistic heritage for its most valuable characteristics, which he transformed into his own unique and appealing style.
