The designs in this book are just divine.
For babies, friends and family, there is something for everyone, and with one simple stitch they are simple but visually stunning.
Every knitter can 'garter stitch'.... knit one row purl the next..so even a beginner can use this beautiful book and create something wonderful.
Bags, scarfs, baby shoes and so much, all knitted in wonderful colours can be achieved in just a day or two. I adored the cushions and will making a few for my patio area.. just what it needs to brighten up my space.
Each pattern is given a skill level, the tools needed include circular needles, cable needles, stitch markers and yarn choice is also suggested. Where applicable a size chart is also included.
Each pattern also has a pattern chart, and with the handy 'Helpful information' section at the back, this book is easy to understand.
An inspiring book filled with wonderful ideas.

This was the first knitting book I purchased when I started knitting lessons. I found the skill level description/ rating spot on and the first project straightforward and very doable: Square Baby Cap. With help from my instructor, I was able to successfully complete the project and my granddaughter looks adorable in the hat. My instructor and I decided I needed more practice before trying the second half of the project- the shaped booties.
The reason for the three star rating is the misleading title of the book. Many of the projects aren’t simple garter stitches. If one looks at the book cover, it’s obvious, and when you page through the book, you’ll see that you need to know quite a few stitches/ techniques including cables, dropped, slip, lace, tog, yarn over, pass slip, etc.
That said, there are enough garter stitch patterns in the book to make the $20 price of the book worth getting if you want to just knit garter stitch.

These projects are majority garter stitch, not entirely, and are a good selection of fashion accessories, garments, and decor items. Since they're gifts, the projects are mostly small and quick but there are a couple sweaters included here. Helpful, clear photos. A greater variety of yarn weights would have been more interesting. A dozen pages of helpful information in the very back.
