A no-strings romance becomes the ultimate surprise.
When Jenn Bellamy arrives in Winsome Cove, stressed and exhausted, she spills her secrets to a stranger. A man who willingly reveals his deepest truths in an impromptu battle of ‘Whose Life is Worse’. Her ex posted ‘revenge porn’ that blew up her life. He’s a newly sober single dad. Both agree romance is for losers. It was a cathartic, anonymous experience. Until Jenn starts her new job, and that stranger, Cody McNeil, is her new co-worker.
Despite agreeing to keep things professional, Cody and Jenn can’t shake their connection. The romance-phobes agree to an all-play and no-strings relationship. As the holidays approach, they learn Jenn is pregnant — the ultimate commitment. Could choosing family be the most romantic gift of all?
Mills & Boon Special Edition — Believe in love. Overcome obstacles. Find happiness.
I write the same kind of romances I like to read – stories about characters facing real-life challenges with real-life consequences. The stories are emotional, but still have humor, and love always finds a way to pull the characters through together.
I live in coastal North Carolina with 100 pounds of dog and 200 pounds of husband – my slice of the bed is very small. When I’m not writing or reading romance novels (or clinging to the edge of the bed…), I can often be found on the back porch sipping wine with friends while listening to an eclectic playlist. If the weather is absolutely perfect, I might join my husband on the golf course, where I always feel far more competitive than my actual skill-level would suggest.
Their Winter Surprise was such an emotional and heartfelt read. What starts as an unexpected, almost therapeutic conversation between two strangers quickly turns into something much deeper, and I loved how naturally their connection developed. Jenn’s backstory is raw and painful. Watching her try to rebuild her life after such a public betrayal made her easy to root for. Cody’s journey as a newly sober single dad adds another layer of vulnerability and strength. Neither of them believes in romance anymore, which makes their chemistry even more compelling. Their “no-strings” agreement feels realistic two people trying to protect themselves from getting hurt again. The pregnancy twist raises the stakes in a meaningful way. It forces both characters to confront what they truly want, not just what they’re afraid of. I appreciated that the story didn’t rush the emotional growth. The themes of healing, second chances, and choosing family felt genuine rather than overly sentimental. This is a cozy but emotionally layered romance — perfect for readers who enjoy flawed characters, holiday settings, and love stories that grow out of honesty and vulnerability.
