Becoming a leader in a global context requires an understanding of the differences that exist across cultures. Multicultural leaders are able to navigate gracefully as they interact with people from different backgrounds because of their cultural awareness. These individuals possess a valuable asset because they are able to adapt to the different contexts where they operate. Multicultural understanding does not happen overnight. Our exposure to a single culture makes us assume that people are all more or less the same. There are, however significant differences across cultures and being aware of these can benefit people in their careers. The purpose of this book is therefore to enhance cultural understanding while developing leadership skills to work effectively in a multicultural world.
