The veil is falling. The gods are rising. Mortals beware.
A curse millennia in the making, Venus’ vengeance struck fast and true, ripping Cupid’s blessing from the world and leaving society in shock. People are left hunting for answers as they face a single question: How far would they go to bring soulmate links back?
Desperate to atone for the chaos they unleashed, Blake, Nessie, Jaylynn, and Charity strike a reluctant deal with Venus: complete her challenges to return Cupid’s magic. But while the goddess’s tasks seem simple in nature, is playing her twisted games worth the moral cost?
Ignorant of their sister’s bargain with Venus, Nylah joins the Fates’ Followers’ ranks, hopeful they can bring soulmate links back. It isn’t until Nylah finds out how the priests plan on appeasing the gods that they start to wonder if the world might be better off without Cupid’s magic after all.
In a dramatic whirlwind of secrets, prophecies, and forbidden romance, each soulmate seeker’s faith is put to the test as they question whether fate itself has changed or if only the symbol has been lost.
A natural storyteller with a flair for the dramatic, Ashley Weiss lives in Alberta, Canada. Her debut novel, Cupid’s Compass, began as a 2020 quarantine project and grew to be an irreplaceable passion. When she isn’t writing, Ashley can be found cuddling her dog or watching movies with her love.
I REALLY enjoyed this, such a page turner and emotionally charged! We finally got answers for the cliffhanger at the end of book 1, it was higher stakes this time around, and now we have even more questions after the huge plot twist at the end! I love the roman mythology incorporated into a modern day world. Such a fresh & unique take!
Our main characters are faced with challenging tasks and even challenging deadlines. I was a little frustrated at first because these tasks I felt were super unrealistic with only a short time period to achieve. BUT that was the whole point in the end, it's really nice to see the trials and conflicts that they go through with not necessarily a "happily ever after" type of story. The Fate's Followers added a new plot line with Nylah, I cannot wait to see where that leads us!
I feel like Blake, Nessie and Charity overall has the most character development and arcs. It was really great to see them in a different light and get pushed to their limits. You see them have to adapt and grow in a short time period.
Now I will say, do yourself a favour and reread book 1 before jumping into this. There are even MORE characters, and it took me quite awhile to get back into the world. Note to author- maybe revise the character glossary to the front of the book, instead of the back. It took me awhile to remember who everyone was and to get a steady rhythm going. With different character's POV each chapter this was a little challenging. I didn't realize there was a glossary until I finished the entire book.
Writing is spectacular, plot is fan-freaking-tastic and I cannot wait for Jupiter's Judgement!!!!!
What a phenomenal sequel to Cupid’s Compass! I was anxiously awaiting this book and it did not disappoint. This is the second book in the amazing indie series of the Soulmate Seekers by the talented Albertan author Ashley Weiss.
This book continued along the same vein as the first book. There are dashes of romance, but the plot is majorly focused on all kinds of relationships and meaning found there in. I loved that this book was almost a flip from the first regarding the tattoos. It highlights the faults in the ideas of soul mates even more substantially than the first book. While yes, some people were able to find happiness in their soul mate, many were left in pain due to loss or unfulfilled expectations. Some revel in the release of the pressure brought on by the compasses, some are destroyed. Yet still some find love in places they would have never expected.
I felt like I appreciated the POVs more in this book now that we are more cemented in who the characters are and where they land in the plot. It still feels like a lot, but each one feels meaningful.
I have so many more thoughts on this book and series as a whole, but I will leave it here for now. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves urban fantasy with an emphasis on relationship, not just romance.
From the very first paragraph to the final line, Venus’s Vengeance is absolutely unputdownable. Action-packed and emotionally raw, this story takes you on a journey through a world that has shifted beyond recognition—and the only ones who can set things right are the very people who helped break it.
Whether you’ve read Cupid’s Compass or not (and if you haven’t, I highly recommend it because it’s awesome!), Venus’s Vengeance will sweep you up, strap you in, and take you on a roller coaster that will blow your hair back.
What makes this book unforgettable is not just the high-stakes battles or the breathtaking twists, but the way each main character faces a trial that pushes them against their own hearts. Watching them wrestle with loyalty, love, and loss had my own heart breaking right alongside theirs. Every chapter pulls you deeper, blending heart-stopping action with moments of aching vulnerability. By the end, I felt wrung out—in the best possible way. Venus’s Vengeance is a page-turner that will leave you both breathless and inspired, proving that sometimes the fiercest battles are the ones we fight within ourselves.
Venus’ Vengeance was everything I hoped it would be! After a re-read of Cupid’s Compass, jumping right into Book 2 of the series felt like the perfect transition, thank goodness, because I NEEDED answers! The writing was exquisite, the character development was on point, more twists and turns.. I couldn’t put it down. The gods played a much more active role in this book, which was exciting to see unfold. As someone who isn’t well versed in Greek mythology, I did a little side reading to make sure I had the context right; not necessary, but helpful for me. As each POV starts to entwine with the others, I found it easier to follow along. The storyline for each character fits cohesively with the big picture, and is truly so entertaining to have every perspective. If Cupid’s Compass taught me anything, it’s that the cliff hanger endings would get crazier as the series continued, and Venus’ Vengeancce did not disappoint! Waiting (impatiently) for the next book!!
This sequel did not disappoint. The stakes were higher, the moral tension was real, and honestly, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I loved how it pushed the characters to face the consequences of everything that went down in Cupid’s Compass. Blake, Nessie, Jaylynn, and Charity each had such intense moments, and I felt all their inner conflict. Venus was perfectly unhinged in that divine, terrifying way, and her challenges were twisted and brilliant. I also really liked Nylah’s arc, watching them navigate the Fates Followers added a whole new layer to the story that caught me off guard (in the best way). The whole vibe of the book is darker, deeper, and more emotionally charged. If you liked book one, this one pulls you even further into the chaos and makes you question everything you thought you believed about soulmates and fate.
What can I say—this book completely tore me apart. Calling it an emotional rollercoaster doesn’t even come close! The whole time, it felt like I was sitting on hot coals. The second book blows the first one out of the water. It was so intense, I thought I was going to have a heart attack. One of the best books I’ve ever read. The ending absolutely destroyed me. How am I supposed to wait that long for the third book? I honestly don’t know what to do with myself. Highly, highly recommend. I love this book so much.
This book has been sitting on my nightstand since it was released in the summer of 2025. I wish I had picked it up sooner but one thing led to another and it st for a few months. I also reread Cupid's Compass just to remind myself of all the storylines.
I happened upon the first book in this series at a market and was anxiously awaiting the release of the sequel and it didnt disappoint. Now to wait for the third installment!
Love the aspect of the multiple POVs and hope that one day it can be turned into a full cast audiobook!
I’ve never been able to see an authors face before reading their book before. So many local authors don’t have anything beyond the local aspect. You are magical though! Occasionally I’ll reread a sentence in your book, thinking to myself “I wonder why she didn’t say this instead of that,” but when I do it over with the sentence in my head, the picture jumbles! I swear you always know the precise thing to say, it was like watching a movie in my head! Love your writing, and here for the 3rd when it arrives!
"Venus's Vengeance" is a breathtakingly edgy and suspenseful drama where passion and retribution collide. The narrative masterfully weaves together beautiful, heart-wrenching love stories with a taut, dangerous plot, creating a potent mix of romance and high-stakes tension. With its dramatic flair and complex characters, this book doesn't just tell a story—it delivers an unforgettable, emotionally charged experience that will keep you utterly captivated until the final, stunning page.
Wow! Outstanding! V.V. will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire book. Ashley weaves an amazing story together that keeps you captivated with a writing style that is easy to read. Loved the additional Roman Mythology sprinkled throughout the book. The twists and turns don’t stop and be prepared for another jaw dropping ending. Great read. Looking forward to book three
What an emotional journey, these characters were developed so well. The plot lines for each, falling in love with some and wanting to smack a few. The ending was so great and maddening because you have to wait for book three to be written. Ashley you crushed it again, amazing job!!!
A great follow-up to Cupid's Compass that navigates how complex the repercussions would be to their changing world. This book is definitely darker on the whole than the first one, but still in age appropriate ways. And this is honestly one of the things I appreciate most about these books - the characters truly seem to be acting their ages and navigating their actions + emotions in ways that make sense. The fallout is far-reaching and the ways in which the characters' lives continue to intertwine is masterfully done.
I continue to love these books for the inclusion of so many POVs. Whenever I read I always wonder what's driving the thoughts and actions of non-main characters, and this world gives the readers at least a glimpse into the lives of the primary and secondary players. It makes it even more interesting to learn about the nuances of characters from their own minds and how different it can be from the perceptions of them from others.
Couple all of this with the gods playing games with human lives, realities of ongoing warfare, and cult behavior and it's absolutely a gem of a read!
