The town of Lakeshore lets in no outsiders, so when Deirdre Hallsey sold Jacob Reilly's house to the Elktons, everyone was surprised. Deirdre kept her promise to Jacob by selling it to a family with children. However, an unfortunate accident left Katie Elkton dead on the basement floor. Her death was the catalyst that triggered the true evil that lived beneath the Reilly house. The house always seemed to have a sinister feel to it that could never be explained. Years after the Elktons abandoned the place, the mayor sold the house to the Haggler family. Then, on a horrific night in May, an evil so sinister overtook Deputy Alana Sachs, killing her and everyone in the house except two, Deirdre Hallsey, who is now a patient in Lakeshore Sanitarium, and her daughter Skye. The town thought the evil was gone after that night, but when strange things started happening in Lakeshore Sanitarium, people questioned whether the evil was truly gone. Could it be something in the Reilly house? Has the evil followed Deirdre into the Sanitarium? Patients are dying and a little boy is seen lurking in the halls on the fifth floor. Will Deirdre be able to survive? Can the evil be stopped, or will it be too late for the patients in the Sanitarium? Unanswered questions bring Mr. Singer, who was once Anderson Haggler’s assistant, back to Lakeshore. Can he uncover the deep dark secrets of the house on Sedgewood Drive, or will the evil also claim his life?
Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, K.C. Harper is an avid reader of murder/mystery and horror embarking on a journey into the horror genre with "The Lakeshore Evil" as the debut novel. You can follow K.C. Harper on social media.
I received this as an ARC from the extremely talented K.C. Harper. Lakeshore Sanitarium picks up from where we are left off in Lakeshore Evil. Skye is giving tours at 2782 Sedgewood Drive, Jason/Griffin is groundskeeper, Deidre is in Dr. Constance's Lakeshore Sanitarium and Sheriff Donovan, Deputy Harper and Mayor Sutton are all still there and all still affected by that fateful night. Now Mr. Singer, who worked for the Hagglers has shown up, wanting more answers about the night the Haggler's died. Now strange and supernatural things start to happen at the sanitarium as well as 2782 Sedgewood Dr. What other secrets will be revealed and who is this mysterious figure showing up on surveillance cameras at the sanitarium. The ending will leave you wanting more!!This was another suspenseful read, that kept me turning the pages. K.C. Harper is an amazing writer you will love.
Lakeshore Sanitarium by K.C. Harper in so super creepy. I loved it. Do. Not. Read before bed! As much as I enjoyed the first book in the series, it in no way prepared me for the mysteries of this, book 2. It is good to know all the characters and back stories, but I was completely taken aback by the depth of this story line. This is definitely much more than a ghost story. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys horror.
Aaaaarrgghhh..... I thought the 1st book freaked me out, this one was x10. it's bloody brilliant (bloody being the right word) so much happened I didn't see coming. Another "just one more chapter" fantastic book. So glad I've been introduced to K C Harper's books, look forward to reading more from her x
There were a few dull moments where I thought I might not finish this book. As I read I found myself getting more and more interested in the story. It had some scary scenes that made listening to the audio in my vehicle at night, a regrettable decision on my part. Overall, a well told horror story.
**PY Book Club R&R** Book provided by the author for an honest review.
This book was all kinds of sad and scary! My real feelings were all over the place, and I'm not PMSing! In the first book The Lakeshore Evil, we were introduced to Deidre as a young teenage girl getting ready to graduate high school. She was good friends with the old man Jacob Reilly who lived at 2782 Sedgewood Drive. Jacob was fond of Deidre and when he passed, he left all his money and home to her. Deidre was a nice kid, but then she grew up into a douchebag! I really hated Deidre by the end of book 1, and now, I'm crying for her, WHAT THE FORK!?
The two main characters in this book are all kinds of forked up! So Deidre has been in the sanitarium now for a year, and Skye her daughter is running the Haunted Tour at the Haggler's house. REALLY?! 'Cause dumb sheet didn't learn from her mother's mistake on that! For someone who's suppose to be an intuitive or psychic, she sure doesn't act like she knows sheet! I really felt bad for Skye in the first book, and now she's a forking a**hole! Can you call a girl an a**hole? I'm not sure on that, but I am, because she is! This whole time her mother has been in the asylum she hasn't gone to see her. The woman hasn't spoken a word since that fucked up night at the Haggler's house! She's all shriveled up from not eating, and looks like a crack whore you would see on TV!
Now this new wanker Albert Singer comes into play. He's Anderson Haggler's assistant, supposedly, and is there to help the insurance company investigate Anderson's death. I don't know who this guy really is but he was not there for what he said he was for! That shifty jerkoff was up to no good from day one, and let's just say his reward for uncovering the truth was justice. The plot twists were just ridiculously unpredictable and grand! I had to fight back tears to finish some parts and turn on extra lights to keep up with others! Then there was the Sheriff! When the Sheriff had the...and then was called to the...and saw what happened to...and his reaction to the situation, OMG! And you're just telling us now about how they really felt...uncovered letters...tears...hate you now :(
And if your wondering if this is a horror/thriller then I will just drop this here: Rachel's remains are still stuck to the ceiling! Hair, face, skin and all are recognizable!

WOW! Hold onto your seats ladies! K.C. Harper hits this one out of the park. This story is fast paced and never slows down. The moment I started reading I knew I would be scared out of my mind while my eyes devoured every detail of this book. I was addicted and needed to know what all K.C. had up her sleeve! And there was a lot! This book is fanatic!
I never would have guessed K.C. would have so many new and old characters throughout this story intertwined. She flawlessly bounces between stories and not once did I go huh or get lost. She makes sure it’s seamless even if she is teasing us with some information we need to know. If you thought her web of goodies was intense last book… Just wait! I think I said OH. MY. GOD! At least ten times.
I can say that the sanitarium book scared the daylights out of me. The detail that describes the scenes had my little imagination in overdrive. I loved all the gory detail. I am a very vivid reader and I could place myself right there with Sheriff Donovan, Dr. Constance, Skye Hallsey, and many more as the story unfolded. This book has enough detail to scare the crap out of you and character depth that I would love to see it on the screen someday.
Sheriff Donavon is my favorite character in this book. I felt for him and loved watching his intuition take over has he worked on putting all the pieces together.
My girl Skye Hallsey scared me a few times during this book. This girl is to nosy for her own good sometimes.
I am afraid if I say any more I will give something away!
By the way K.C. you have officially scared me with two songs now! I’d sing one if it wouldn’t give things away! Don’t you evil cackle at me either!

Lakeshore Sanitarium by KC Harper
A little about the Story: Lakeshore Sanitarium is the 2nd book in the Lakeshore Series. Though you really should read the first one to get a better understanding of this book, to me, you could read it as a standalone. It touches on book one. Book two brings you closer to certain characters. Sheriff Donovan and Skye to name a couple.
Pros: This story does not disappoint. It brings even more death and gore than the first. I was at the edge of my seat, yelling at the characters,( as if they could hear me) "Run!!!!!" . In the first book, I thought Deirdre was a bit of a douche bag but In book two, she was redeemed. This Author had me looking over my shoulder as I read in the dark one minute and, crying for a characters death another. As you learn more about the story behind the evil, you can kinda see more or less who is to blame. I am definitely looking forward to The Whispers: book 3.
Cons: I have to wait for book 3. lol
If you are into Horror and Gore, this Series is a must READ.

The only two people that know about it are Skye and the Sheriff. His past is linked to the house on Sedgewood or is linked to the murders at the sanitarium?

Who is responsible for these murders? Is it someone still alive or is a ghost to blame?
I received a copy of this book for an honest review Wow This is part 2 of a series. I recommend reading part one before you read this one. Its is a great continuance to the first one. This book is so evil and twisted and gory and just plane amazing. It keeps you guessing on what is going to happen next. If it will be a living or a dead person you should be focusing on. It leaves you with more question then answers and needing the next book in this series. I can't wait to find out what happens next. I was reading this book right before bed and it left me with crazy dreams of the book because its that type of book that sticks with you and if you can't finish it in one sitting then you are bound to be thinking about it until you do.
Seriously, K.C kills it with this scary shit. Oh, my, word.
I almost think I like this book better than book 1, Lakeshore Evil, but I'm not going to lie the ending KILLED me! (Do you see me, laying dead in the corner?) it's not over... It's never over. And I cannot wait for book 3 (coming 6/6/16)
Little 17 year old Skye is coming into her own, and blossoming. The evil at the Lakeshore house has other plans.
This book is wonderful for twists and turns you didn't see coming. It was a nail biting, looking over your shoulder, did you hear that- horror that thrilled me to no end.
