Our junior high library copy is dog-eared from so many check-outs since we acquired the book in 1981. A student read it this week and came back telling me details from the book. I decided to take it home and give it a try. I really liked the map on page 17 because it gives the reader a good idea about the potential size of Atlantis. The continent may have extended from North America to Africa. David McMullen writes of many of the mysteries that surround the lost continent and provides numerous pictures of actual places and statues as well as illustrations that reinforce the content of what he writes. The author takes a fascinating subject and makes it palatable nonfiction for a young audience. I understand why our school's copy is so well worn.
