Trusting Again

Rate this book
Alexis Blakely barely escaped a damaging relationship that has not only left her alone in a new city, but also unsure if she could ever trust a man again. In her own quiet, unassuming way she is trying to heal and move on with her life. She is not at all interested in meeting or dating anyone new… until she meets Patrick. He is the most attractive and charming man she has ever met, but she is very doubtful that he could be the type of man she needs.

Patrick Morrison, a confident and successful businessman, has very specific tastes in women. After the disappointment of his last relationship, he is content to devote his time and efforts to his business… until he meets Alexis. He can’t stop thinking about her gorgeous body and her fascinating personality. Yet he is quite sure that someone like her could never be right for him.

Neither Patrick nor Alexis suppose the other holds a secret. In the words of Robert Frost, “We dance around in a ring and suppose, While the secret sits in the middle and knows.” As Patrick and Alexis dance around their secrets, their attraction to one another continues to grow.

I am writing this review with a lump in my throat! I am so going to miss Alexis and Patrick! Since I finished the book last night I have been filled with such a wonderful warm feeling! This is what I call a great ( a better word fails me) love story! You will fall in love with Patrick and Alexis, that I promise anyone who reads this story! Patrick is any girls dream, even though he does have flaws, but ladies you will forgive him those flaws! Alexis is complicated and adorable! I found myself laughing at stages, shocked at other stages and crying my eyes out for these two people. Yes, I know it is only fiction, but what made this book excellent was the fact that while you are reading, it becomes REAL! EL James and all those authors that made erotica/ romance famous, watch out, there is a new kid on the block.
To the author I would like to say thank you for sharing this with us and that she can believe her husband is right when he believes in her abilities!

This book was exhausting! While a good story, it was rather wordy. Much too much telling instead of showing. Additionally, though it's supposed to address BDSM and the H and h explore Dom and sub roles, it was too vanilla. There were bits of kink but nothing that screamed BDSM. There were also some typos that took me out of the action. I found Alexis to be an odd mixture of strong and timid - almost as if the author was using her timidity for submissiveness. She drove me nuts at some points. I did understand her traumatic history and how it affected her now, but I still found myself wanting to jump in my Kindle and shake her up a bit. And Patrick - initially I liked him but his over the top mess up and then his rather ham-fisted manner in trying to fix it made me groan in frustration. The secondary characters were good particularly, Patrick's family. Boy his sister was a hoot but we don't get enough of her. Marisa seemed too much like a caricature of a Southern belle but she was clearly Alexis' friend. And what's with the focus on boobs. If Dan said bodacious tatas one more time I was going to barf. There is a good foundation here but I think with some cutting and editing, the book would really stand out.

i really liked the book..although i was a tad disappointed that we didnt see much of Brian..i think I needed closure hahaha (what an ass !) and that DOCTOR!!! i wanted to know more about the conclusion of the lawsuit and why was he so well rated on paper but nobody complained on his unethical behaviours. Other than that i really enjoyed reading it...the whole story was cute ..Where are those dreamy men we read about?? :p. Thank you and can't wait for dan and marisa's story Great work!

I received a free copy in exchange for my honest review, so here it is. I loved it! I fell in love with Alexis & Patrick's story. It was full of emotions and you can feel her pain and sadness. It had me laughing and crying and wanting to cheer for them. It is a well written story of love, trust forgiveness and happy ever after. This is the first story I have read from Emjay Barkley and will be reading more from her. Great job on this one Emjay!
