Aisling, the crown princess of the small European country Vyctorya, has been sheltered her whole life with only her lady-in-waiting, Florence, by her side. She has to be perfect for her parents, and she worries about losing their love, considering that she's a closeted lesbian. With her marriage to the Duke of Belare a week away, she has resigned herself to a loveless fate.
Chava Burke, a girl from America, is reeling from her father's death a year ago which resulted in a move back to her mother's home country of Vyctorya. With the anniversary approaching, Chava feels more lost than ever with no support from her family, a recent break-up with her girlfriend, and a rejection from her dream school, Purdue University.
One day, after Aisling sneaks out of the palace, the two girls run into each other and discover that they look identical. They agree to switch places until the night before the wedding, and with Florence, on their side, both girls are confident that they can get through the week with no one discovering their secret-until they start falling for people they shouldn't.
I really enjoyed reading this book, it had that element that I wanted from the description. It had that character development that I was wanting and thought they worked well overall in this universe. Isabelle Kelly was able to create a great storyline and characters and am excited for more.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a fun twist on a classic story. The details into each character’s lives have the reader instantly connected. With some fun twists and so many sweet moments, this book will leave you loving the girls and rooting for each of them. Battling their own complex issues, each character grows and develops into their lives through the help of the other. Great book!!
