Is there any significance to the fact that Jesus was born in Bethlehem? How does the Messiah's baptism set an example for us to emulate and what did it undo?Did the Messiah have to die on a cross and why did he not rise until the third day?Who are the shepherds and why was it important that the baby be found wrapped in swaddling cloth and laid in a manger? How can we embrace a supernatural perspective—living with a sense of possibility--and not be limited by a strictly natural perspective? Why does Genesis 3 talk about the "seed of a woman?"Why were the disciples so willing to immediately drop their nets, leave their families, and follow Jesus? You'll also learn how to respond with faith, not fear; trust God's plan, purpose, and provision; and move forward in the power of the Spirit.

If you need hope, or simply a better understanding of God's plan of redemption for all mankind and your part in it, Transformed by the Messiah will open your heart and mind to be able to live in the supernatural power of God's Spirit as you follow Jesus and His command to make disciples. I always enjoy Rabbi Jason Sobel’s work, and Transformed by the Messiah did not disappoint. Much like going back and watching cartoons we watched at children as adults, we notice jokes and inuendos that meant nothing to us as kids but as an adult, you perceive it. By growing your understanding of Jewish traditions, cultures, history, etc, you begin to understand things in the text you might not have perceived before. The problem is that many don’t realize there is a knowledge gap; Rabbi Jason Sobel is working to close that gap by teaching just how incredible the New Testament is in light of all the prophecies and promises found in the Old Testament. He does a mixture of exegesis and eisegesis of Jesus’ (or Yeshua) life throughout the book. I really enjoyed how he helped to explain pertinent Jewish teachings and beliefs that provide clarity on passages where you might not have realized had a deeper meaning. Over all, I appreciate his perspective and his mission to making the Hebrew language, culture, and Jewish feasts and histories more accessible to modern day Christianity.

I would like to thank W Publishing and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Each new book from Rabbi Jason Sobel is an invitation into a deeper, richer faith for Messianic Jewish and Gentile believers alike.

I read Rabbi Jason's Aligning With God's Appointed Times: Discover the Prophetic and Spiritual Meaning of the Biblical Holidays last year and finished Transformed by the Messiah: How Old and New Testament Jesus Connections Reveal God's Intentional Story for Your Life last weekend, fittingly on the Sabbath.

As a Gentile believer, Appointed Times drew me into an awareness, appreciation, and participation in the additional layers of meaning, symbology, and foreshadowing of Yeshua that God wove into the Old Testament story of His love and faithfulness to His people through His holidays.

In Transformed By The Messiah, Rabbi Jason built on Appointed Times by connecting even more pieces of The Law that Yeshua fulfilled with a vivid portrait of the fullness of new life He died to give us entry into.

We Gentiles may be tempted to think that connecting with the Jewish roots of our faith is akin to living under or trying to be justified by the law. But we are not trusting in the Old Covenant to save us. We are gaining a deep, appreciation of the fullness of what Yeshua accomplished through the New Covenant to redeem us.

The Bible is not two separate books, one for the Jew and the other for the Gentile. It is a single, cohesive incredibly true and living story of selfless love and eternal redemption.

When we distance ourselves from either bookend of faith - the old or the new - and say that portion is for someone else, a different group of people, we forget God is the same God yesterday, today, and forever.

Transformed By the Messiah is an invitation to let all of Yeshua's completed work transform every facet of our lives and souls.

I found it a poignant reminder that since the beginning, the God who loves us has been writing the cosmic story of humankind's and our personal redemption. He knew we would fail, but He was never going to leave us there.

“Transformed by the Messiah” is a gift! Never before have I had the experience of understanding scripture and the intention for my life better than I have while reading this book.

Having read Rabbi Jason Sobel’s first book “The Rock, the Road and the Rabbi” during Covid with my family when churches were shut down, my desire to understand more was awakened because it was like a veil had been lifted on scripture; I just knew there had to be more than what I was reading on my own and hearing in church. I had been asking my church leaders and teachers to teach more about the Old Testament but I did not know what I wanted to know! Fast forward to October 2023, I joined Rabbi Jason’s Fusion Global group on a trip to Israel “to encounter God,” as Rabbi Jason says often. It was spiritually life-changing. The desire to understand more was growing and growing.

While reading “Transformed by the Messiah,” I am having “aha” moments in every chapter! The chapters cover what Rabbi Jason told and showed us in Israel but now I can slow it down, turn to scripture and jot notes in my own time. This book is TRANSFORMATIVE! Rabbi Jason is shining a light on all the connections between God’s covenants and the connections between Yeshua and Moses, Yeshua and Jacob, Yeshua and Joseph, etc. Understanding the Jewish roots and history of the church fathers in the New Testament makes scripture engaging to read and it points to the immense love our Father has for each of us.

Rabbi Jason’s book is relatable, understandable, funny even, and captivating. Truly, it connects the dots and gives the Christian reader the insights into understanding our Jewish roots. Reading this book is like unlocking a treasure that the Lord has always had at our fingertips; all I needed was a teacher to shine a light on God’s promises for a “life lived abundantly.”
“Transformed by the Messiah” is especially good at showing God’s intricate plan for our redemption since from before creation. This book shows the love and mercy our Lord and Savior has for each of us. You will be blessed!

This is a fascinating look at Jesus through the lens of Old Testament prophecy and Jewish traditions and customs. While the truth does not change, some of the richness and symbolism of the Scriptures is missed if the Bible is only read the modern Gentile eyes.

Note - there is a lot of numerology and Jewish interpretations here. But don’t let that keep you from enjoying the majesty that is revealed in the Scriptures of God coming down to us.

I enjoyed it and would recommend it to all Christians and Jews and to anyone searching for the truth.

Thanks to NetGalley and W Publishing. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Phenomenal!
What can I say? Except, I'm caught in awe learning how everything is somehow connected and it all points to Jesus.

I've been enjoying Rabbi Jason Sobel's books and this one is just as special as the rest. I need to go back and reread all of them a few times. Bring on the notebooks and highlighters!

If you're a Christian you need to understand Jewish history and heritage to our Christian walk. It's imperative. And this book helps!
(FYI, Jesus is Jewish)

This book will transform you. Rabbi Sobel explains the Bible in such a way you can understand. You also learned more about Jewish traditions and teaches you some of the original language of the Bible and its significance.

I have read other books by the Rabbi and Bible Studies and learned so much. This book doesn’t disappoint and has taught me so much as well!

Rabbi Jason Sobel has taken the Messianic prophecies of the Old Testament and their fulfillment in the Person of Jesus (Yeshua) in the New Testament and demonstrated that in God nothing is random or coincidence. Everything was planned and intentional. And so it is with our lives. This book is a fascinating read and should bring hope and freedom to all who read it.
