This was an excellent issue of Analog. Several prime stories.

12 • A Roll of the Dice • 39 pages by Catherine Asaro
Outstanding. Roll of the Dice is the kind of story that makes me look for an author's novels. In the case of Asaro a previous story in Analog had gotten me hooked on the Skolian stories. This one takes place on Coba set a few years after The Last Hawk.

60 • The Wisdom of Demons • 3 pages by Larry Niven
Good. Humor.

64 • A Real Bang-up Job • 15 pages by F. Gwynplaine MacIntyre
Good. Humor.

90 • A Day's Work on the Moon • 18 pages by Mike Moscoe
Excellent. Introduced the character, got put in a crisis and then the resolution. Interesting at first and exhilarating at the end.

110 • Built Upon the Sands of Time • 10 pages by Michael Flynn
Good/vg. A scientist is postulating a sort of alternate timeline, because people remember things that didn't happen.

120 • The Hanoi Tree • 21 pages by Shane Tourtellotte
Very Good/excellent. Tried to give us an insight into an alien species.

145 • The Oedipal Concord • 8 pages by Laurence M. Janifer
Fair. Didn't do much for me.

154 • The Abyss • 18 pages by James Gunn
Very Good. A continuation of the Gift from the stars series.

186 • To Have What It Takes • 17 pages by Joseph P. Martino
Very Good. A test pilot is on a dangerous test flight while his wife worries at home.

203 • Hullabaloo • 4 pages by Diane Turnshek
Excellent. I couldn't ask for more in four pages.

207 • Cheetahs • 21 pages by Robert R. Chase
Very Good. An interstellar short story that did not have FTL travel, meaning that when the crew of the starship reached their destination the colony wasn't the same.
