I love this creator! I found out about this artist early this year, I believe through this publisher's newsletter. After I found a free single-page PDF they had previously shared (https://walterfoster.com/art-studio/a...https://walterfoster.com/wp-content/u...), I purchased one of this artist's other coloring books earlier this year.
This format is a little odd: there are coloring pages and blank(ish) pages, but they are in two separate pads. The book unfolds into ledger-sized surface with two stacks of pads. It doesn't fold back on itself well, so users either need more than the normal amount of table space, or need to remove the page(s) being used.
The paper for the coloring pages is very nice quality. The blank pages have colored details in the margins or as a pattern-- two pages with a snowy-trees-and-houses scene, two with snowflakes throughout the page, and two with a light blue scalloped border all around. The first two are good quality, but both of the scallped pages have a weird quality issue-- it doesn't feel any different from the others or on different parts of the page, but all the corners have discoloration, maybe? If I can get a scan to capture the problem, I'll add it to the social media version of this review, and add the link here (https://bsky.app/profile/sarahevmorri...).
There are several pages of instructions, which are easy to understand and make drawing seem less intimidating. It doesn't inclue a lot of depth, however, nor does it point to other resources for more information-- users may be disappointed in the lack of perspective and dimension in their pieces.
Although there is an instruction section, this book is dominated by the activity portions, and is therefore not an appropriate book for public library collections. It is a fun gift for coloring enthusiasts of all ages.
I received this book from The Quarto Group in exchange for this review. (Note to self to tag #quartobooksus, #WalterFosterPublishing, @quartobooksus, and @bobbiegoodsart on social media.) This review is late, as I received this book in the mail 11/13/25; almost exactly at the same time (but not at all *because* of this activity book-- I had been going hard at all my knitting projects for several weeks before, on top of my inflammatory autoimmune condition that's always mildly-contained at best), I started experiencing a severe increase in my carpal tunnel pain and numbness which, as you might imagine, was neither helped by nor allowed much coloring-- I had wanted to finish one coloring page and one drawing page before posting, but that hasn't happened and I need to move this along. I appreciate Quarto's patience. Along with this book, I also received The Practical Science of Herbs: An Evidence-Backed Guide to 50 Therapeutic Herbs and How to Use Them and Forest Bathing: 50 nature connection cards.
