For those seeking the Spirit in their studies, Keys To Successful Scripture Study will provide information, explanation, and techniques that will help uncover the riches of the scriptures.
As the granddaughter of the author, I’ll be the first to admit I’m biased.
That doesn’t detract from this book containing a wealth of knowledge, resources, and strategies for improving personal scripture study. Some methods are a bit outdated in light of the Gospel Library app and online searching. But, effective study is more than being able to look up topics, and that’s where I found this book to be so useful.
The most forceful idea for me was that scripture study is not an end to itself, but a means for drawing closer to Christ and becoming more like him. All that is found in this book is with that end goal in mind.
The style of mini assignments for the reader to complete is something my dad does to me all the time, and now I know where he gets it from. This book enriched my personal scripture study methods, and reminded me of some of the things I loved about my grandpa.
I also realized that not everyone grew up hearing about Israelite history, or learning how to chainlink the scriptures. I’m grateful for all my family members who contributed to this book and helped me learn effective gospel study. And I’m glad that this information is more widely accessible now, both through this book and other resources.
