Eighteen year-old Hannah and her new husband Jakob have discovered the best possible news: Hannah is pregnant with their first child!
Most Amish girls spend their pregnancies quilting and sewing tiny clothes, but not Hannah. Between her demanding job at Stoltzfus Bakery, bridesmaid duties in Amish bridezilla Mercy’s wedding, and her unwanted position as mediator during Jakob and Mercy’s many quarrels, Hannah is ready for a break!
However, Hannah receives more rest time than she’d bargained for when an accident causes her to nearly lose her baby, and lands her on bed rest. Can her marriage really survive in sickness and in health? Will Hannah recover in time to stand in Mercy’s wedding? And can Hannah regain her strength and give birth to a healthy baby?
What can I say? I love reading and writing, and have been doing both for as long as I can remember.
I earned my Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Pittsburgh, and practiced as a pharmacist for six years before retiring to become a full-time YA author, blogger, and writing coach.
I just published Book 1 of the Amish in College series, "Amish Faith: Rebekah's Book." This new series is a spinoff of my best selling Amish Hearts books, so if you liked them, Amish in College is definitely worth a look!
Also, check out my two latest contemporary YA novels, "Winner" and "Unlucky 13." They're equal parts drama and romance, and I think you'll love them!
I'm currently hard at work on Book 2 of the Amish in College series. I'm also writing a companion to "Winner." Check out my website www.kristinaludwig.com for release dates and links to my other books.
I adore blogging. My blog, Random Inspirations, includes posts about my random reflections, as well as creative writing samples, writing tips and tricks, and book reviews. I also have a section in my blog called "The Journey," which chronicles my journey as a self-published YA author. I feel like my blog lets me reach out to other writers and help them in their journeys as well.
I live in California with my husband Antonio, with whom I've just launched a new YouTube show, "Business, Publishing, and Life." In my spare time, I love playing the piano, going to the beach, swimming, shopping, cooking, traveling, and yoga.
Sweet book but not very interesting. I am not sure I want to read any more books by this author. The best part of this book is each chapter alternates between the different characters perspectives of the story. Book just needs more depth for me.
I was excited to read this book, since I have read all of the previous books by this author. I finished the book in one sitting because it was too good to put down. I had to keep reading to find out if the young couple's story had a happy ending or not.
Newlyweds Hannah and Jakob were expecting their first baby when things started to go wrong. Hannah was stressed out by working at the bakery with Mrs. Stoltzfus, a very cranky lady. Hannah really wanted to quit her job and work at her best friend Mercy's new bakery instead. Hannah did quit her job, but not the way she had planned to.
The newlyweds faced some rough times after Hannah was no longer working. Read the book to find out how their faith helped them to weather the storms in their first year of marriage.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys well written Amish fiction.
As soon as I saw the author publish this new book, I knew I had to grab it. I have been enjoying all of her Amish novels that she has published so far. I have read a few other Amish novels from other authors, but I decided long ago to stick with this Author.
If you have read any of her novels before, then you will definitely enjoy this one because this one builds on top of those. However, if you have not read any of her books you, will still be able to quickly understand the story. I very much look forward to reading and finding out what happens in the upcoming sequels.
I can personally tell that the author really takes the time and puts her entire heart into writing these books. Not many authors can convey this with their readers.
Rating: 2.5 stars. Why 3 stars? Because no poor grammar, typos.
This book just misses the mark. It's a sweet story, but just a bit TOO sweet. It's WAY too predictable. There is something about the title "Amish Baby" that bothers me a bit. Don't ask me why. It's right up there with something my granddaughter told me last night about WHY you couldn't wear red shoes with a cute Americana sweater that definitely would look great with jeans. No real reason why -- just not right.
There you go -- the title is "just not right". The book plot was obvious from the beginning. But there's predictable and then knowing what the "next thing" that will happen. And sadly, being right.
The book centers around an Amish couple -- Hannah & Jakob -- and their first expected child. One chapter is in first person "written by Hannah" and the next chapter is in first person "written by Jakob". I'm not THAT fond of first person books. And I do "get" why Ms. Ludwig chose this form to tell the story.
While first person books are not my favorite ... I have read a few that were well told. I think the problem with this book was the foreseeable plot with no "mystery" about any of the characters. This is Book 1 of a series. I probably won't read any more in the series until I read reviews first.
Too predictable equals boring. Sorry. It is a quick and light read.
I have been fascinated with the Amish lifestyle for quite a while now, and I have been looking for books that would delve deeper into the psychology and thinking of the people who choose a very simple (but not easy!) lifestyle in our complicated high-tech world. However, most of the books I’ve been finding read like research studies. And then I discovered Kristina Ludwig. What a find!
I loved reading this story about a young couple who have all the trials and tribulations of young couple all over the world but who are also so unique because they are Amish. This book is both original and highly relatable, and that’s a winning combination.
Hannah is a very likable character: she’s strong, faithful, and loyal. She also knows what she wants and finds ways to achieve it. I look forward to reading more books in the series!
So... this book was labeled under free mystery books in the Kindle Store? This book wasted an entire HOUR of my time. I kept waiting for a mystery (who is the baby's REAL father!?) but nothing ever happened. It was just a stupid book about a married couple that has a baby (SORRY FOR THE SPOILER ALERT... NOT!) I wish my kindle showed me the cover before I read this - I could have guessed how annoying it would be. Sorry, I'm not usually this vitriolic with my reviews, but honestly... I'm angry. Angry at myself for continuing to read this entire book, angry at the world that such a book could exist, angry at Amazon for having mislabeled this book. I'm sorry, it's probably not a terrible book if you are into this sort of thing... I'm just really not into it. Really, really not into it. Blech.
Kristina Ludwig excellent Amish Baby. Hannah and Jakob are looking forward to the birth of their 1st child, but it is not an easy pregnancy. Hannah works in the local bakery but does not get on very well with the owner, Jakob works in the local repair shop mending buggys among other things. When Hannah has a bit of an accident the worry for the child is most forward. This is the 1st in a series of books and if the others are as good as this one we are in for a treat. 4 stars. 24 December 2014.
I completely loved Amish Baby! I particularly liked how the chapters alternated the voices of the leading characters. One chapter was from Hannah's point of view, and the next was from Jacob's. It was fascinating to hear the inner thoughts of both characters, as the drama unfolds.
Amish Baby is my favorite book by Kristina to date. I can't wait for the sequel!
amish babys make me think were not alone???? anyone else get that feeling when reading???? 'am i okay? the doctor said im fine but my heart says no' thats my favourite quote from this book anyone who like this book should be my friend. i have lots of friends but you could be my no. 1 english friend!? yes! i read book a long time ago but i still remember that she dies
Good story to read this book will keep you reading page after page.
Hannah and her daily life as well as her work and family and friends will keep you from putting this story down. you will be pleased with how she managed to get the most out of her life and keep the interest to see how this story ends.
This is my first Kristina Ludwig book. I thoroughly loved it. I have been reading Amish and/or Christian romance books lately and this book is right up there with those I've been reading from different authors. I feel like I must recommend her books to all who want simple, clean, and interesting reads. She's that good.
This is a lovely inspirational story about a young couple's dream to have a baby. Hannah is working in a bakery and she wants to quit her job, be careful what you wish for. I loved the way her friend grew during this book and how she dealt with her faith. A quick read but enjoyable.
You follow Hannah and Jakob through the beginning and end of her pregnancy. A fall dominates much of the book, but the end result is a bobble. A perfect Saturday afternoon book which I give 5 stars
Was not real sure when I ordered the book how it was going to be. I was surprised by different parts of the book, the near tragedy. The happiness in it. How close the families are
