A Change In Gravity

Rate this book
What do you do when Fate puts a kink in your skein and turns your life around 180 degrees?

Kevin was living his dream until Fate stepped in. Popular with the ladies, well-liked by men, with an easy charm that many admired, and mad Hunter skills that some envied. Then came a change in gravity and all bets were off. A bogus tip led him to an active nest with only Lif by his side to defend two dozen helpless victims, a life-altering choice was made and, in one of those frozen moments remembered with knife-edged clarity, Kevin was plunged into a nightmare, becoming the thing he was taught to revile and hunt.

It's not all dark, but the journey to find the light is long and arduous. The revelation of what he’s become tests love and friendship but through the ordeal of yearly evaluation combined with a healthy dose of reflection and soul-searching, Kevin rediscovers the man he's always been. Ultimately Kevin finds just that right combination of Hunter and vampire, and finds acceptance, too. He adroitly turns the tables on those who would seek to bring him down, gravity rights itself and he proves his worth in a blaze of vindication.

This is the Author, giving a bit of insight on this book, my second in the Vampires in the City universe. I hesitate to call it a series. You can read the books out of order. They share some of the core characters, and the locale.

In this book, the main character is a secondary character from book 1 (To Ride the Rain). His life is turned upside down as he is Turned into a vampire as a result of his vocation as a Hunter (think SWAT for vampires). The book follows his path as gravity flips completely over, as Hunter becomes the thing he used to hunt. How does a man come to terms with becoming that which he was trained to revile? It's not an easy thing to overcome, to fight stereo-typing and prejudice and self-loathing, to find that inner core of strength, the nucleus of who you truly are rather than some label society places on you.

I hope you'll all enjoy the action and the romance on top of all that cerebral stuff. :)

This story finds a man coming to grips with his life after a serious event changes everything. Everything he knows has been flipped upside down. Afraid to love and afraid to trust, even himself, Kevin finds his way to happiness and a fuller life than he ever expected. A wonderful continuation of To Ride the Rain. We revisit New York and the wonderful characters we came to know in the first book and are introduced to some new and endearing characters. You need to pick up this series!!!

Enjoyed the story. There was enough carry over from the first book to make it a real series but not so much that I had to go back to reread it.
Cant wait for the next one!
